Look at it this way - better the top line gets their less than great efforts out of the way now. Nothing to worry about - they will be ready for the playoffs.

The better question is opposing teams will start asking - which line of the Flames do I key on?

I share that concern. Since the all star break (besides Johnny’s god-mode streak) they have had trouble when teams play them close and take away their time and space. They’re just not well suited to a grinding game.

That’s why having depth is awesome.

Really need the top line feeling good about themselves.

Monahan had a number of really good looks that could have easily gone in.

But too many times they were hemmed in their own zone. Not enough possession, not enough zone time.

Need em going. Confident they'll figure it out.

The Monahan slander is kind of confusing. He got a few chances in the high slot, just couldn't finish. That's the player that he is, he buries one and I'm sure the concern evaporates. I'm more disappointed in Lindholm's game as of late. He looks pretty relaxed out there, sort of coasting. Hope it really is just a switch thing that he can flip come playoffs because that line can't afford to have two anchors out there.

Nucks suck. 4th line was awesome, d was awesome, gio best player on the ice, and smith had a solid night.

Go Flames Go!

Markstrom should get suspended for that. Intent to injure. Bush league.

As long as the other lines keep producing I don't think we have anything to worry about.

I think the biggest problem with the top line is that no one can take a hit to make a play, especially on zone entries. Lindholm is the closest thing to that and even he gets knocked off the puck.

1st half of game was strong. Kind of tapered in the 2nd half. Skating overall looked better. Engaged. Not a ton of offence other than one or two decent set ups. Still has to find those extra gears.

I'm not worried. They have had some great chances the last couple games. Once they get a goal they will go on fire. Gaudreau is creating so many chances, the others will come around.

Spoiler!

Great game, 101 points!! Wooooo!! What a season!

Mark F'ing Giordano! 72 points, WTF is this sorcery!?!?? Unreal season by the captain and I don't care what anyone says, he deserves the god damn Norris trophy. He had an angry face the moment the puck dropped. Can't wait to see him in the playoffs.

The 4th line was absolutely Bin Laden tonight, terrorizing the Canucks every shift. All the goals and huge hits all night. For real, maybe the best 4th line in the league. Can't even remember the last time the Flames had a 4th line like this. Decades ago.

I thought Gaudreau had a tough game as did Monahan, outside of 2 good chances. Smith was great and his play entertained me tonight.

Gotta show some respect to the Canucks though. They've taken a beating over their management issues in the past. But they've managed to sort things out both on and off the ice, and ice a pretty good roster with great potential going forward. Edmonton has 2-100pts players, and yet I think the Canucks are a safer bet going forward, present and future. They are a much better team then I thought they'd be. I can appreciate rebuilding in the manner they have. Edmonton might have the city rivalry, but on the ice Canucks vs Flames games are amongst the best.

Also hope Stetcher is ok after that puck to the face. Doing his best Hanifin impression (who almost took another one himself).

Mah, he still got his jab in at the end calling him an anchor. It was backhanded.

Better. I think if Bennett is on that line it will play a heavy game.

Yeah I thought Neal looked fine found himself in the right place at the right time a few times, and looked engaged, and wasn't a liability, which in itself is something after that long of a layoff. Hope he accelerates from here, would be a huge boost as we get into the playoffs if Neal is going and both goalies are sharp.
