Yeah, I’ll take Bill Peters at his word.

No collusion and no conspiracy.

NHL coaches are always totally transparent about injuries. You can absolutely take them at their word.

All I hope is that we see “A” game Monahan in the playoffs.

They're sometimes quiet about them. But if they come out and say what it is, they aren't lying.

As much as it sucks to lose Monahan for any lenght of time, I am somewhat at ease because Ryan seems to have found his stride in the offensive zone. Then add Lindholm, Czarnik and Quine who can all play center.

Too bad Neal is still out. If one of the RWs gets moved to center, it would have been nice to see what he could do on a 5-on-5 line with Lindholm and Gaudreau, or Backlund and Tkachuk.

I really hope it is just that he is temporarily ill. Concussions can sometimes mimic flu symptoms. With a virus, there is a chance that he could feel better tomorrow. The fact he isn't going to fly tomorrow gives me some pause as not travelling is part of concussion protocol. Players with seasonal illnesses still often travel... especially key players.

If he is throwing up is it upper body and if it's the other way it's lower?

Feeling sick doesn't really mean anything. There are many things that can make someone feel sick. Infections, viruses, head injuries, disease, anxiety, food poisoning, internal injuries, allergies.

He could be physically injured and still feel sick. Peters didn't give any reasons, only a vague symptom. It leaves it open for a lot of speculation.

You make this sound like a statement of fact when of course it isn’t. It’s not as common now but for a long time, half of all playoff injuries were charleyhorses. NHL coaches are far more than just “quiet” about injuries, and Peters strikes me as pretty old school a la Darryl Sutter.

What I’m saying is that when it comes to injuries we in fact have little to no clue what is really going on.

Gio taking pre game warmups with a season ending injury already diagnosed is a pretty good example.

I'm talking about now, not past behaviour. If he says he's sick from Smith when he knows it's a concussion, that's a straight up lie. They don't do that. If they don't want to say, they just don't say anything these days. Even with Gio they didn't call it X when it was Y.

In this case, he's seen what Smith had and he's seen how Monahan is. If he says it's the same, I'm betting it is.

Like I said, he said it was similar to Smith, which he's seen. It's something he believes is infexious, which a head injury isn't (or most of the other possibilities). If two guys in close proximity have the same symptoms it's a pretty easy conclusion to make

You can feel better with a stomach illness with some toast, so that's handy anyway.

I don’t know when honesty became the norm in this stuff. I revert back to my earlier statement that we never really know.

To use the Gio example, if that isnt an example of deception I don’t know what is. So they will deceive, but not flat out lie. If that is the case, better read Peters’ quote carefully because I missed where he said there was no concussion or other injuries.
