Default Kristian Huselius injured at home

Google translate from the swedish article:

"Kristian Huselius cares for serious burns.

Now the former hockey star tells about the nasty accident.

- We'll see and wait for what permanent but I get. The doctors say I am being restored. I'm glad I live, says the 40-year-old.

It was Saturday that the former NHL player Kristian Huselius took it easy in the apartment in Stockholm. His chimney-free fireplace extinguished and he would replenish with more fuel.

- The flames and heat hit me directly and I caught fire on the upper body. It went on a millisecond and I threw myself back, Huselius says.

He was transported to the emergency room by ambulance and received immediate care.

- Donīt know how I managed to alert 112 or get the door to the ambulance staff. But somehow I solved it before I collapsed.

- We have great hospitals in Sweden and the ambulance staff were extremely professional. I want to thank everyone who helped me and everyone who supported me via SMS and nice greetings, he says.

Huselius has burns on the upper body and the worst is on the face and on the shoulder.

- The skin on the face is not dead. I will of course get some scar, but I am glad it is not worse. On the shoulder, the skin is probably dead, so they will transplant skin from other parts of the body. The doctors are positive and think I will be completely restored. And I will, there is nothing else. I also have an injury to one cornea, but our fine health care will probably fix it as well. We'll see and wait for what permanent scars or but I get. For me there is nothing else but to be restored, but at the same time I am happy that I live and that all body parts are intact.

He wants to thank all the nice greetings and warn others.

- I can only advise everyone to be careful with open fire and follow all the safety regulations that exist. I have learned, through a tough and painful path.

For the weekend, the oldest daughter plays Stella Ungdoms-SM (Swedish youth champioship) in handball.

Huselius hopes to be present at the championship in Karlstad.

That's truly awful. Burn victims have some of the worst recoveries imaginable, so here's hoping it's speedy and relatively painless for Huselius. Burning at that level is one of my worst fears.

And completely OT, but dialing 112 for emergency? Sweden is weird. It also made me think of this to add a little levity to this thread.

We changed to 112 first of July 1996. Before that it was 90 000

So if I’m deciphering that translation properly, his pilot light went out on a gas fireplace, and their must have been excess gas released prior to him hitting the ignition switch? Hope he recovers quickly!

Hope all goes well for him.

He was always fun to watch in the offensive zone.

Approximately 4500 persons. But since they were supposed to report that they were dying to their local hospital, and died, we donīt have an exact number.

I think it's a fireplace he needed to add more fuel to, and it sounds like this ignited while he was adding it or something?

Either way, fuel-fires are terrifying. Lit up in milliseconds it sounds like he said? Very glad he could get clothes off in time to limit the burns, but that must have be painful as hell.

Glad to hear Juice is on the mend, that's some scary stuff.

As someone who has suffered severe burns and two skin grafts I can testify to this. Horrible experience. Thoughts to Huselius, wishing you a speedy and pain-free recovery Juice.
