Fleury is playing tonight so we likely get Subban tomorrow.

Cocky move by the knights. I hope for something alike what we saw in the first meeting.

I don't know if it's cocky but playing your starter against the ####ty Canucks and then Subban against the top Western team the next night is something.

Not really. Lots of teams have taken this approach recently. Ensure you get the two points against a weaker team and then hope your backup comes to play against a better team.

Montreal just played Niemi in San Jose and and Price in Anaheim the last two nights.

I think it's pretty common for teams to play for a split essentially by starting their best goalie against the worst team and vice versa.

Ugh the narrative of a supposedly weak back up goalie sparking our offense is not one that I like to see.

Vegas smart to keep Fleury away from Tkachuk
Why risk confrontation and injury to your goalie weeks before playoffs

Why not?

In the five games prior to destroying the Golden Knights at the Saddledome the Flames has scored 10 goals. They went on to score 37 in their next ten.

This looks like a great opportunity to get them going.

With Smith and Rittich playing fairly equal as of late, I give Smith the start tomorrow.

Smart of Vegas to play Subban to keep Fleury out of the fireworks. The last thing Vegas needs is for Fleury to be forced to answer the bell in a goalie fight after pushing for one last game. For this same reason I play Smith in what should be an intense playoff like game.

I’m betting that Rittich starts. Especially if they are alternating

That might be what Vegas wants is for us to play Smith.

Exactly. A good old fashioned blowout would be the perfect tonic for our offence to get some of their mojo back. The Flames just need a damn win to get them out of this funk, and if facing the opposition's back-up helps them do it, then so be it.
