Dare I say the third line is missing the stability of Neal? Maybe the dressing room is too?

Only line, until Peters took Ryan off it, that has looked above average and has been above average consistent the last two weeks compares to the rest of the season,is the 4th line.
Other lines have had flashes, but between the shakeups, and everything else, the 4th line is dependable.

And let’s say this, the defenseman are looking very solid still.

The Flames haven't clinched a thing. And the way they're playing right now makes me nervous about the playoffs, no matter who they play. It's scary to see how their offense has completely dried up. Scoring 14 goals in 7 games is brutal.

Yeah, ok, but they've also lost six straight games, scoring twelve goals (a third of which came in the final game).

After that misleading stretch, the Flames won only 12 of their remaining 30 games.
Comparing anything last year to this year makes your narrative irrelevant.

That is the difference in tight games. It was tonight.
You realize that no forwards scored in this game for either team right? #13 should have had the only goal by a forward.

The Flames didn't lose the battle top forwards tonight

I'd rather have this kind of slump now then in April.

The effort was there, but the offense doesn't seem to be as cohesive as it was at the start of the year, but we're going to see more of these grinding type games during the stretch.

I'm glad we play Vegas again on Sunday. Flames better crush them.

Was that goalie interference?

45% say Yes

"The Hockey fans have spoken, 55% say it was not goalie interference. We have a good goal"
Polling only fans outside of the regions of the two competing teams?

I bet we'd get way more consistency than what we get from the current system.

Flames clinched a playoff spot in February...unless you think 89 won't get them in

No they didn't. That's not what clinching means. You can say they're a virtual lock (which they likely are) but they would need to hit 101 points to clinch a playoff spot. As it stands, they are currently 12 points short.

Well, that's a dismissive comment that ignores how the Flames were actually doing reasonably well for a lot of last season before the goaltending fell off a cliff and the offense utterly disappeared. Sounds a little like this season, except the collapse has come a little bit later, there's more hope it can be rectified, and the first part of the season was significantly better.

But the fact that the team has taken a step back around this time of year for the second consecutive season is more than a little worrying, IMO.

They’ve lost the battle since the break. Thankfully the bottom six have carried the load.

One real positive was Rittich. He was solid - just needs a more conservative approach to puck handling!

Flames were a bit scrambly chasing the game. Gotta just play the right way and the results will happen.

The mission is just to get on a good roll going into playoffs.

Big save Dave showed up again! That's cool! I wish he could round into form over the coming weeks, and try to limit his Mike Smith impressions a bit...

I'd rather we have the scoring slump now as opposed to the start of playoffs.

I do wonder if having a playoff spot secured has taken away the drive the Flames once had. They looked disorganised and the new lines seemed to struggle.

“Likely” a virtual lock.

Hahaha. Okay.

Worst part is they wasted a really good game from Rittich.

If Smith wins tomorrow in Arizona and he gets handed the reins again then say goodbye to letting Rittich get some momentum.

There's plenty of reasons to be optimistic this team can get their crap figured out in time, but if you're not worried how this team fares in the playoffs you haven't been paying attention.

.
I’ve been paying attention. All season. But thanks. That Flames record isn’t achieved through smoke and mirrors and not playing sound hockey over the past 5 months.

There is nothing that concerns me in the last 3 games other then getting some scoring cofidence back, the first 3 game loss in these first 69 games.

There is a month to go in the season to get a lot of things sorted out. Good and bad, and they still have thier destiny in their hands for the Pacific and the West.

And as it stands now the Flames don’t play either of those teams in R1.

Well, it's not 100%. It just isn't. So, yeah, likely.

Look, they're making the playoffs, but to go ahead and say they've clinched is an obvious falsehood. It's just wrong.

Is this where I say "Hahaha"?

Playoffs are in the ####ing bag...call it what you want, its not likely its a sure thing. Teams play each other they are not all running the table.

Besides, Flames are gonna win some games lets not be ridiculous
