I'm not a big advanced stats guy, so I cant comment in that regard, but like a lot of posters on here I've watched ~80% of his games played since he was drafted. Positionally wise in the defensive zone he is okay, but lacks the speed and the board strength to be a solid contributor defensively. This year especially I've noticed him lose men on the back check which have resulted in goals against.
Are you trying to tell me he's good defensively? cause that would be a bigger "load of BALONY" than what I previously stated.

Yes I think Monahan is above average defensively and I’ve also watched him since he was drafted. He’a not elite but he is no liability like you are claiming. He is constantly up against other teams top lines so of course they are going to be hemmed in during certain times of the game.

No idea why Love has an axe to grind with Monahan. It's not like the Flames passed on somebody better. He was a slam dunk pick at 6th and has performed very admirably in the NHL.
It is not like he is overrated here either. I can't recall anyone arguing that he is one of the top centers in the game. Would the Flames be a better team if they had Crosby or Malkin, or Mackinnon, or Barkov or any of the dozen to twenty centers in the league that are better than Monahan? Sure, but they don't, so why bother worrying about it. They have Monahan and he has good chemistry with Johnny and he scores a lot of goals consistently.
What's not to like?

Was this Lou's "substantial concern" that he was gonna to talk about on the pre-game show? I'm not able to listen to it.
But I agree, Monahan has been great. Yea, he's going through a bit of a funk right now, as are his linemates. But I think it's more of a dog days of the season kind of thing. Every NHL player goes through little slumps. I have full confidence that they'll get their mojo back shortly...hopefully starting tonight.
**edit: nevermind. Just noticed you wrote "Love". Thought you were talking about Lou.
