In the past five years Sean Monahan has missed a total of ten games—with eight of those at the end of last season. He has played every one of the Flames playoff games.

Expect the same lines as yesterday in practice for the Flames tonight vs Vegas. Rittich gets the nod.

But declarations like these are silly. The Flames could lose both tonight and again at home on Sunday and still end up having a terrific season. They could get blown out in both games and still go on to win multiple playoff rounds. When coaches and management talk about the importance of not getting too high or too low based on results, I think that this is part of what they are getting at.
With all that said, I look forward to a demoralizing home ice loos for VGK tonight.
GFG!

Exactly.
Us old timers recall the 'so-called slump', an 11 game losing skid in 85-86.
Although ultimately not the very best ending possible, it was a pretty solid season.

Or they could win both of these games and get swept in round 1.
It seems almost assured that this will go down as a very successful regular season. But "make or break" really starts in the playoffs IMO.

It is entirely speculation that has occurred on CP as a reason for why Monahan is not scoring lately. There is nothing substantive at all behind it. Just worry.

Kinda glad to see Rittich back in there. He’ll probably play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Hope to see him put a nice string together.

I think assigning a 2 goals or fewer rule is a poor way to judge the goaltending. We could give up 5 with none of them being the goalies fault.
I want to see no five hole goals from outside the circles, no stupid play with the puck. Not too much to ask.

Yep I'm a little surprised Rittich is starting but I agree with it. Bouncing back from losses is critical for goalies.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Dear Flames,
Protect the front of the net. Don't leave people open. Help your goalie.
Oh, and score goals.
Thanks!

Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan only players missing from #Flames optional morning skate in Las Vegas.

I think Rittich is starting on the merit of the Flames already having a plan in place to start Smith tomorrow. I doubt it's any deeper meaning than choosing which of the 2 games to play him.

Could Care Less

Vegas players talking post-skate about how this game is a "good measuring stick" for them. It's hard to remember sometimes in the day-to-day of the season (especially getting deep into these boards), but other teams are trying to measure up to the Flames - not the other way around. The Flames are the team to beat in the West.
For everyone saying that we should have a massive shakeup in line combos or otherwise, or continue to vomit negativity, please try to remember the above. For all of our sanity.
