Yeah I am a bit scared about the goaltending. I understand there were no starters out there but really wish they got a third stringer like forsberg from Chicago.

Strange to me they obsessed over getting a 9th or 10th defenceman about 3 injuries away from being a necessity yet didn't think having a guy they could call up in a pinch in net was a necessity.

Oh well.. Guess these 2 guys are it. And they've looked real good for stretches. Hopefully no dogs like this in the playoffs though

In fairness Smith’s been great for a the last little bit, he had on bad game, but because the fans have seemed he used up all his bad games in the first half he’s not dependable.

Rittich hasn’t played as much recently, let’s in one bad one that looks more like a mental error, but because the fans are freaked out about Smith that’s a cause for panic.

There’s a reason the team is less worried about the goaltending than the fans and it’s because none of them are carrying around the rediculous emotional damage the fans are about it.

Jon Gillies - awful at the AHL level.
Tyler Parsons - really bad at the AHL level right now
Nick Schneider - terrible in the ECHL

Probably will be an opportunity to see both goalies in action. I am starting to think trading a 1st round pick for a goalie is a good option.

Lundqvist, Dubnyk, Miller, Howard... there was all kinds of rumours about all kinds of goalies. So let’s just stop parroting this none available and quite frankly no GM is ever going to say at no price is my goalie not available. So- there were goalies available just maybe too expensive but we’ll see what expensive means if we are a first round exit and the goaltending is like when Elliott screwed up that one playoffs a couple years ago.

Personally- I think it should have been addressed but I got villified on this site as usual.

The only thing that makes this game bearable, is that in my eye, we've played a pretty good game.

But it feels like the leafs have scored on every high danger chance, and we haven't.

I'm not watching, how have the goals against been? This is what I was worried about - the insistence by the Flames brass to build up Smith's confidence in order to build him back up for the playoffs, without giving the same consideration for what big layoffs for the other guy might do to him. You can blame Rittich for bad goals if that's the case, but if you do, you need to also blame the coaching staff for allowing him to get rusty without game action in a consistent manner. If you argue that the Flames needed to get Smiths confidence and game back to where they needed it to be, well, guess what? You now need to do the same for Rittich because you decided to not think about the impact to him during those 3 weeks.

It's too bad, really.
