The trend I see lately is that we're playing top 10 teams like ass.

I'd attribute it to the scoring drying up almost entirely.

Not that any of these goals were Rittich’s fault, but Smith Or Rittich it doesn’t matter. Our goaltending is simply not good enough. Our goaltending has been #### for so long even average goaltending gets us excited. I can’t think of more than three games that goaltending won us this season. This is a glaring weakness, Treliving has failed to address this time and time again. If he get the boot from the playoffs because of goaltending he needs to pay with his job.

We are sitting here fawning over the exploits of Frederic Andersen but he’s just doing what an NHL goaltender is expected to do.

Looking at NaturalStatTrick's shot-generation and prevention rates halfway through the game:

- Brodie and Kylington having particularly bad games, Kylington especially
- 3M Line has been atrocious
- Hathaway and Mangiapane with brutal shot generation while Ryan is above-average -- he's been driving that line

It’s been interesting to hear post game analysis during the win streak and I thought it was me just being pessimistic but when peters and others were talking about how good they were playing defensively I kept thinking “yeah against Ottawa, Islanders, devils and ducks.” Some seriously weak offensive teams this year and with injuries.

Games like this against good offense exposes the fact that in my opinion the defense hasn’t taken some big jump. If we don’t get the offense rolling again like before with our concerns at goaltending we are going to lose pretty heavily against the sharks and golden knights in a 7 game series.

I hope it’s my natural pessimism as a flames fan and that I am wrong but i feel if we don’t see the top line clicking again, secondary scoring won’t matter going against a lot of high powered teams.
