I wanna see Columbus miss, Pittsburgh make it, and knock out Tampa!

It's games like this which force the hand of the GM to fire the coach. Columbus is all-in at this point and can't afford to miss the playoffs. If JT can't motivate the boys at this point, they've tuned him out.

Goes to show why adding big name players to your roster doesn’t always work immediately. It not NHL19 just as much as you need that big time scorer you need a guy who can go out and eat up minutes and kill penalties. I think sometimes people forget you need to have a happy balance and not focus on becoming so top heavy.

What an embarrassing effort by Columbus. Definitely one of those "rock bottom" types of games. Teams appear to be playing down to the Oilers lately, and they've been picking up points as a result.

Hopefully the Yotes and Hawks can both win tonight to crush Edmonton's hopes again. I'm sure they're already planning the parade again with their 4-0 lead.

crazy to see Columbus down 4-0 to the Oilers...

the GM deciding to 'go all in' is looking like a horrible decision... if they don't get into the playoffs, all the rentals they bought and losing, potentially, Panarin and Bob for nothing (or possibly less) than they could have got if they sold at TDL day is a bad look...

not as bad as being shutout by the Oilers mind you

That's the fear of adding major pieces at the trade deadline. It can basically destroy chemistry or you can get a poor fit in the locker room.

Its absolutely in my mind better to add those major pieces in the summer so that you can get them into training camp where teams tend to bond and develop positive or possibly negative chemistry.

Building a team is far more then adding star players ala NHL 20 whatever video games.

Bob Nicholson talking to some NHL executive -"Please sir, we're too stupid to do anything on our own. Who should we hire as out next GM?"

NHL Exec - "Are you kidding Bob, you have a hamburger named after you, and your team has won two games in a row, you should absolutely roll with what you've got"

Bob - "I agree, we're fricken brilliant"

So this is exciting.

The time of year where the Oilers start winning some games here and there. When it is meaningless.

The playoffs are near!

(Not for the Oil of course)

I’d love nothing more for Oilers to slide right into the 8th seed and have a BOA series where we crush them.

Others have mentioned it before but there is no scenario where the Oilers making the playoffs would be better than them missing it IMO. Ideally, they get 9th year after year after year.

Nah, f*** that. The Oilers finishing in 9th or 10th and missing out on the lottery is the ideal scenario IMO.

Also, the teams above them have been playing some good hockey lately, particularly the Coyotes and Avs. In the end I think it'll be a dog fight between Dallas, Minny, Arizona, and Colorado for the two WC spots.

There's no payoff there. Either the Flames crush them as expected, or they fall flat and embarass themselves. It's like picking a fight with the ######ed kid

The betting odds for Tampa beating Ottawa are crazy.

I've never seen more one-sided odds in the NHL.

Oilers turning on the jets when playoffs are all but out of reach, how cute.

I hope we go to OT with Minny tonight.

`Hawk defense is wretched, in a game that desperately need. 3-0.
