If he knew he was going to the leafs, why would he want the leafs to give up assets for him and make the team weaker in the future? He totally screwed the isles but was thinking of the team he would be playing for.

I think it's heartwarming that a fanbase can become so united and passionate through hate.

Who's to say the Leafs would have been the ones to trade for him at the deadline? He still could have signed their in the summer anyway

When McDavid leaves Edumpton I can imagine their fans will utilize some of these methods.

You're giving them too much credit, they really aren't that smart...

It's fun to see the Nassau county Colliseum filled with an angry raucous crowd. Takes me back to the early 80's.

Hate is what makes great rivalry's.

Love it. Sports needs more of this, maybe it wouldn’t infiltrate real important matters so much.

They boo safe plane landings in Philly.

They'd be stupid and bandwagon whatever team McDavid ran to, claiming to be longtime secret admirers of said team.

Whichever team gets him would have to deal with an influx of incredibly stupid, obnoxious and toxic fans who suggest the most idiotic trades and signings, have little clue of goings-on elsewhere in the NHL, get too negative during the bad times and get too positive during the good times.

It’s a longshot but I’m hoping these two meet in the first round. Would need the Habs to catch the Leafs and get 3rd in the division.

Where does this rank in loudest or most boos in NHL history?

Phaneuf was booed hard in his return back in 2010, but not close to that extent IIRC.

There are definitely other guys who have been booed hard, but that is, lots to say the least.

Parise after 2012, maybe? I don't remember if he was booed.

I have been to MSG when they were playing the Islanders. Their fans began to applaud a paralyzed cop who was doing the puck drop until they announced he was from Long Island. The boos were loud and long.

I thought it was in a bit of good fun but it did feel genuine and nasty. Was an embarrassment.

New Yorkers are a notoriously forgiving lot.

Good on 'em though.
