Yep. Thanks to other teams actually winning games.

Their ‘run’ has coincided with playing three straight games against teams on the 2nd night of Back-to-backs....tying the game on the final minutes/seconds of two of these games when the other team is completely gassed...3 points they would likely not have ‘earned’ if not for the advantage of their schedule.

Their schedule is materially easier than all other teams.

Oilers Need More Than Regime Change Will Billinghurst - The Hockey Writers.

Looks like any number of people on Calgary Puck could have written this piece.

Oilers are really no good.
I’m worried about getting paid at $5 a point the worst /best case going in was about $50. It might be 200 by the end of the season

See, Oilers fans? Peter Chiarelli may not have been able to win the big prize, but it wound its way back to Edmonton after all. Some organizations just have that winning culture, you know?

Bob Stauffer on HC right now...

"yeah i work for OEG but I can say whatever I want about the team"".

So Bob...either you are lying, nuts, or have no clue about what you watch night after night, cause your spin into positivity about every single Oiler related thing in a cesspool of no goodness, is bordering on delusion.

Unreal.

I have no idea how else to put this, but I always find Bob tries to sound "cool" when he does interviews. Like he wants people to think he's some sort of badass. Bugs me.

Curious to civil oil fans around here (oilfan81, stang), is it killing you guys that flames are #1 in the west? Or are you like meh whatever? Or are you actually cheering for us a little now.

Just genuinely curious..

I am very Meh whatever. Thinking they'll be bounced in the first round (you asked)

And sorry, I'd rather get a handy from the Dad in Abducted in plain sight then cheer for the Flames.

Why not cheer for the Flames during the handy instead of after?

Bob drops Keith Gretzky's name into the GM search along with Kelly McCrimmon and Mark Hunter. Recalling Lowetide's tweet from 25 February it sure sounds like the OEG is setting the scene to promote Gretzky to the position on a permanent basis:

Also, it's funny listening in the following discussion @ around the 31:30 mark that management is keeping McDavid appraised of the progress in the ongoing GM search. Wow. Sure, he is among the best players in the world and he is somehow also the captain of the team, but he is still also just a 22-year-old kid. It is staggering that anyone would think this is a good idea.

I'm a bit confused.
Is there some particular reason for doing things in that order?
Or, do you think the first part is a requirement to becoming a Flames fan?

If it's the former, that's cool, you do you. If it's the latter, I'm not sure where you got that impression, you can just start cheering for them any time you like.

Do they honestly think that McCrimmon will leave his plum job in Vegas to fix that tire fire in Edmonton? With the interference from upper management? Not a chance.

Not to mention, never work in the NHL again after he's fired.

The next GM job there will suck even more - trying to clean out the bad contracts, 5 years at least of sucking badly, McDavid getting more and more unhappy...

This is funny and often overlooked.

Look at the successful careers these guys go on to have after they leave Edmonton....

They either get promoted so they can torture the new guy or they get tossed onto the scrap heap of history. Chiarelli will be lucky if he land get a job being the Janitor for an NHL GM.
