That's a fair point. Still, with the Flames' goaltending and prospect base in serious question, this wasn't the year to sell off the franchise's top prospect or its 1st-rounder. Unfortunately, Vegas could afford to part with 2nd-rounders or better, they have the cap space to re-sign Stone, plus they evidently had more appetite to give up one of their best prospects.

Hopefully the Knights get trounced in round 1!

Flames didn't have a lot of chips to work with, and I suspect any conversation started with guys they didn't want to move.

I'm fine with that. This team has earned the right to see what they can do in the post-season.
