You think Vegas with Stone beats SJ?

Now stay ahead of both San Jose and Vegas and let them beat the piss out of each other in the first round

All I can say is Valimaki better be the real deal cuz players like Stone don't come around often.

Weren't you also saying Vegas and SJ were miles back and we shouldn't be worrying about them...and less than 2 weeks later, SJ caught us?

They do have the best Sched down the stretch. I think we win it (assuming the first line wakes up). Was thinking that playing Vegas round one was the best option given how hot the teams in the central are getting, but not with stone there. Watch what he does to that team.

Nah. You have to be pretty damn confident of at least a conference finals appearance in order to surrender significant pieces, even for such a good player as Stone. The Flames have the most questionable goaltending & PK amongst the top Western teams (CGY, NAS, SJ, WPG). Mark Stone only addresses one of those problems.
The Flames also have a poor prospect pool and an upcoming cap crunch. We could just as well regret giving up the 2019 1st or a Valimaki if Dorion is being inflexible regarding those assets.
I'm excited about the possibility of adding Mark Stone too. I just don't think we'll regret not getting him.

Does Vegas really think Stone pushes them over the hump? Hope they give up loads of assets for a rental

The Sharks were in first in the Division for less than 48-hours. Jinxes are not an actual thing.

Have we even really missed Valimaki? I know, with Gio aging and the expansion draft on the horizon but its Mark Stone! We would be an instant favourite to get to the SCF!

I want Stone. I want him bad. But not trading Valimaki is the smart and right thing to do.

As much as I would love Stone, he looked like he wasn't that big of a difference maker just purely looking as a stat watcher. He had 8 points in 19 games when Ottawa went far.

I agree with Manhattanboy. We are gonna feel it when we are the only top tier team that doesn't shore up some offense.
