I think the Flames would include Kylington for sure but I don’t think Dube is someone they are willing to give up.

It's the downgraded offer vs. what they're apparently asking for. Would suck to lose Dube but we don't have a lot of room for him in the lineup in he next few years anyway, and we're only making the deal if we're signing Stone which would just be another guy in Dube's way.
|
I wouldn't even offer up Oliver.
It would be Dube, the two firsts and Frolik(or a different prospect). Take it or leave it. Likely the best they'll get.

agreed. But I think Tre only makes this deal if he knows he's signing Stone, and maybe that's what's been the hold up all along (them not being allowed to talk to him possibly)? But his agent is Tkachuk's, and his brother's on the team, so there may be some inside info to his interest to play here already anyway.

Yeah, not that Kylington is worse or anything but the pool is a lot shallower for forwards, especially swiss army knife guys like Dube.

Only if Kylington gets sent down.
They will want both guys playing games, that cant happen in Calgary unless another injury happens....knock on wood.

Oh i'd prefer that deal as a Flames fan. But if they're asking for Valimaki, it may take a lesser D prospect to get the deal done. Andersson's not going anywhere, so that means probably Kylington.
Gotta give to get.

McKenzie: dealbreaker for Flames is that Sens want Valimaki in Stone package
I posted this in the Stockton thread but Dube has 27 pts in 26 AHL games. The #8 pick from that draft, Alex Nylander, has 25 in 44 games. Dube is one of three AHL rookies at or over a ppg pace. Flames are very high on him for good reason

Thinking about it more I'd actually go in for Stone at a high price if we could negotiate a contract.
Valimaki is simply too high but I'd be willing to go Kylington, Mangianpane (or Dube) and a first (going to be a high 20's pick). It brings in an elite defensive scoring forward and solidifies us going forward and balances our forward to defenseman ratio for expansion.
I mean, I get it expansion isn't for awhile, but you can address it later when every team is trying to address it and wary of adding star pieces to their team because of said expansion draft, or you could address it in spectacular fashion right now.

I hope Dorion gets his lunch fed to him in the last 15 minutes. Guy is a clown. "Give me two firsts and two blue chips." "Can we talk to Stone to see if he'll sign?" "No." idiot.

I guess that's fair, if they're looking for a D prospect.
Kylington is the closest to expendable for me of the big three. I'd be willing to do it if they came down from Valimaki, but again only if there is reasonable certainty that he'd extend here.

Some of you guys get way too buthurt about rumoured asks. Spoiler alert, they're always way too high, and spoiler alert number 2, the actual deal is always lower.
"If Gio wants 9 million he can #### off and join another team, this is RIDICULOUS" - CP on hearing Giordano's rumoured ask.

Right side D
Kylington and Valimaki are left side D.
Additionally why risk losing Prout on waivers when the other guys have no such issue.
No point building the depth they have on the backend just to give it away.

I don't doubt that was the ask (Bennett + Valimaki + 1st); why not when you have the most valuable asset for sale and it's two weeks from the deadline and there are a dozen contenders. Why not entertain a bidding war?
The problem now is that there are likely down to four contenders left with any assets (VGK/CGY/BOS/NSH) that are interested, and you are running out of time. The key concept is that Stone is worth what you can actually get for him, not how good he really is.
I cannot see Stone re-signing in Ottawa, no matter how much money. You're basically acknowledging that you are going to use up your prime years stuck in a rebuild. So you have to deal him before the deadline or you get two more months of Stone and then NOTHING.
There is no way this price doesn't go down before the deadline. Like a LOT down. I don't think Calgary is out of it, I don't care what any tweeter says. It makes too much sense as I think CGY is willing to part with a Kylington + 1st package and I don't know if the other remaining contenders have anything that good to offer. And Ottawa is not letting him walk for nothing.

Prout can't be sent down anymore. He needs to be on the AHL roster at 3pm ET today or be up on the NHL roster for the rest of the season.
Since he needs to clear waivers before being sent down and the earliest he could do so would be Wednesday at 12pm ET, he will be on the NHL roster for the rest of the season.

As deservedly so. Imagine if we did this deal, got bounced in the second round and he walked away at the end of it!
