I would laugh if Bieksa broke a Ferland trade.

Well, that would be awesome. There are actually still plenty of forwards available or potentially available. I don't think there is any reason to rush to do anything.

I would be open to Hoffman but I thought I read somewhere that he wants to stay in the Florida area

Yeah. Apparently, if it was Stone and not Hayes or some other player, the price was just too high. I also wonder if they weren't allowing us to talk to him about an extension based on the LeBrun information from earlier today.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
He was referring to Mark Stone here. So Calgary is out. And Winnipeg is out.
Ryan Leslie @ryanleslie73
Don Maloney telling me moments ago, the #Flames were “in on something big” last night but that it fell apart.
Again, they are not willing to use their high end prospects for a rental.

Whelp..no Hayes, no Stone?
Can't say that's a successful start to the day.
That said, until Stone is elsewhere I'll think we're still there.

So with the Flames and Jets out. Stone to either Knights or Preds?

Well it would be naive to say the flames are out when no trade has been made. Sens could circle back

The key questions to me is, did it fall apart because
- the asking price was too high
- the Jets wouldn't let Calgary talk to Stone
or
- the contract ask from Stone was too high for Calgary
If it is the former then I see Calgary going back to the table at the right time today.

The senators are going to f this up for themselves.
Keeping prices high is one thing, but having potential suitors drop out, could leave them with few options. Especially when suitors are pulling the trigger on other options and spending their assets up.

Interesting. I wonder if Ottawa blinks or someone else steps in on Stone.

If Stone is still available later today, I imagine the Flames will try again if they don't make a move before then.

There's a couple ways today could be successful
- Adding a good piece for the right price
- Not doing anything because the prices don't make sense
I'm OK with the team standing pat if the deals being presented don't make sense.

I don't think it means Calgary is out completely. But it probably does mean that Vegas and/or Boston currently have the floor, and the Flames wait to see how that shakes out.
But I think there is no question that the price comes down a lot before a trade for Stone happens.
(Also, sounds like NAshville is moving on as well)
