Guadreau and Monahan unfortunately have to get back up to game speed every time you give them time off. It's almost like going through training camp again when they get a week off.
Another week or so and we should them start hitting their stride again.
Yayyyy, glad we won, but holy frijoles Game Centre is the worst app imaginable. I saved the game for my break and of course the stupid website of dumb spoiled the result. Even if I save "turn all scores off" in the settings, it defaults back to showing them every time I log in, and the "gear icon" that allows you to change the settings is directly next to the score banner.....
Sorry for ranting, I'm just really mad because I hate being spoiled........ Fuuuuuuuuuu........ Who designed this terrible website!?!?
But glad we won, of course. Yayyyy.

Close win, but the Flames dominated play. Team must be having a really good vibe going through it with all the depth scoring - hopefully it keeps going and everyone will be loose and confident with their individual games going into the playoffs.
If I am the Flames' Equipment Manager, I am going to double-check the expiry date on that purple juice. That top line hasn't been clicking much, but at least they have been getting some decent chances. That's the least that worries me on this team though, and I am sure that within a few more games, that line will will start coming out for third periods bloated from too much juice.
Bennett had a really strong game tonight - looks like he has picked it up a notch again for a while, and seems to consistently be one of the stronger skaters for the Flames.
Czarnik is finally clicking. Treliving spoke quite a bit about Czarnik being a guy that seems ready to 'pop', and we are finally seeing it now. I often didn't like his game for the majority of the season, but he seems a tonne more engaged all over the ice. It is really nice to see it paying off for him.
There really are no passengers in this line-up. Nobody seems to be half-assing it out there. I like the work ethic of this group. Rittich seemed to just be himself again out there - I actually think the rest did him well to reset a bit.

Agree - he has been given a shot and is comporting himself well.
What happens with James Neal when he is ready to come back? If Czarnik keeps up this play, the Flames can be patient with Neal and make sure he is 100%.
Exactly, I guess it depends on how well Czarnik keeps playing. If he continues to produce then he will continue to be in the lineup I’d think. Same goes with Mangiapane
Definitely the least amount of "GO FLAMES GO" resistance I've felt, to the point that I stopped in the 3rd
The entire 1st line (even 28) couldn't get any momentum going to be excited about and seemed largely irrelevant, Gio was always using his head, Brodie skates like the wind, Andersson is smart as hell, Ryan is always where he needs to be, 93 had a few rare cameos as someone who cared, Backlund put in work in the 1st, Czar reminded us he was in the lineup in the 3rd and Jankowski seemingly never left the ice
The CT center is an underrated place to watch hockey, and it's a shame Ottawa fans need to travel this damn far to see a game.
Flames win, Rittich looked bored but in control and they dragged a W out of a game they barely tried in. Fun to cheer for, but you've gotta be looking forward to a better effort against NYI

Tkachuk protects the puck and plays keep away with for almost a minute against his brother then Tierney touches the puck and immediately gets knocked over by a gust of wind and turns it over lol

Look at em both chew their mouthguards like the lovable annoying bastards they are.
Love em

I love how Guy said #### it. And is just playing Tkachuk vs Tkachuk

At this rate, EM is making trades with visiting teams or next opponent teams to save a few bucks on airfare and long distance calls.....maybe there is a trade with Calgary. God help us.
Quote:
At least we might be able to watch Mark Stone tomorrow even if it's in a Flames jersey

I have a dream
The Senators skate on to the ice and the last skater on to the ice is Stone with a big C on his shirt.
I have a dream
Quote:
Correct me if I am wrong but if we trade Stone, Tkachuk will be our leading goal scorer

As mentioned, you Flams sure look like you could use a dude who knows how to shoot the puck.
All you have to do is shift on Valimaki... lol

What we and the team are going through right now and over the last year+ is just the worst feeling. But one of the reasons it’s just the worst feeling is that we’re not used to it. In many ways we’ve been blessed over the years. The reality is that we’re only one of the 35% of current NHL teams that have never won a cup. We are only one of MANY teams Matt Duchene would not have signed with had he landed there and not here. Mark Stone will shortly walk away from the team that brought him up, and that breaks my heart utterly, but we aren’t alone in that either. See Tavares, John.
What’s happening right now is like a hitting a bump in the road, and then ten more bumps, followed by bottoming out in a pot hole, and then careening wildly downhill. But as it is everywhere in life it’s the valleys that give the peaks their definition and meaning, and given enough space and time, you’ll always encounter both, each eventually rolling into the other.

I haven’t watched a game in a month or so, I’m pretty much done with this team as long as Melnyk is around. But I still can’t help myself and keep track of what’s going on.
However, the bastard may have gotten me... I think I’ll start watching again just to see the biggest train wreck in NHL history...
I mean, they’ve got to be trending towards one of the worst seasons in league history... I might just have to start watching that.
Quote:
Biggest problem I see right now is unfamiliarity with systems and poor coaching.
To be honest there is enough skill in the lineup to not get embarrassed, they all just run around like chickens with their heads cut off

I am just watching to see if the Sens can score one goal.

The biggest question of the day is will the Sens score a goal this game?
Quote:
Ok boys, one goal. That is all i ask is for one goal.

I'm worried about where our goals are going to come from in the future.

If we score a goal and trade Ceci i'll be happy.

Score a goal? What do you think this is, a team?
Quote:
If we get one goal we win!
Quote:
If Calgary gets less than 5 goals I'm calling it a win
Quote:
We don't even look close to a team that's going to score
Quote:
Dammit, Rittich, could we just have one goal? Just one? I’m not asking for a win or anything insane like that, I just want my team to not get shut out for a third game in a row. bursts into tears

Wow I’d be pissed if that got called against us.

game changing review call

Wow, they overturned the goal. I am super surprised on that.

Refs are so inconsistent. Earlier this season, same thing happened to Andy and they called it a good goal.
A Rare Goal

Aww man I played David Rittich in my pool.

I think Brady has scored every game that his dad has been at lol.

Something tells me Matthew will be the first to the cup though lol
The 4th Line Press
Quote:
This is embarrassing. It's like constant powerplay.
Quote:
This team is so badly coached.
We have more raw talent than you can shake a fist at on that line and the Calgary 4th line totally dominated.
Waved Off Goal #2

OMG LOL that's the exact same ####.

i mean if the other one wasnt allowed to stand i cant see this one either

Fair enough, refs are consistent at least

Goal who got it...
oh oh same play under the glove...
will probably be called back
Quote:
haha this is not counting
Quote:
It would be a very NHL thing to do to allow this one to stand.
Quote:
No GOAL. unless we see he had stick on it first

Both of those calls are bs. That’s not goalie interference lol, they need to fix it and stop babying goalies.

That ####ing hurt, and I've already long since checked out emotionally. What an awful way to lose, as our newly attained reclamation project pings one off the post and then they get the puck past Andy on a weak ####ing lob in. Ugh.

How many different ways can we lose? Seriously, what the ****. This team has had zero luck the entire season. Granted, we haven't deserved a lot of the games we've lost, but this is ridiculous.
Horseshoes
Quote:
****ing horseshoes continue to be shoved square up Calgary's ass. Duclair hit the crossbar on a breakaway, Flames go up ice and score with less than a minute to go in the game.
Quote:
The Flames want nothing to do with us and their fans will never admit .
I feel like we’re the only two who really shows up to play them lol.
Quote:
Yes, I’m sure a team that is close to 30 points up on us is really nervous about our last meeting at the end of the season. I hate the Flames as much as anybody but hate doesn’t negate the fact that the Flames are in another stratosphere compared to the Oilers.
Quote:
30 points is the worst lead in hockey though.
Quote:
Problems don't exist in a vacuum. They are interconnected. That the Oilers have picked at or near the top of the draft for over a decade suggests that the issues are deeper than depth (pun only slightly intended).
Quote:
I hate to use the Flames as an example but they are an example of a changing NHL
16-17 Flames: 226 Goals For, 221 Goals Against
16-17 Oilers: 247 Goals For, 212 Goals Against
Flames were a mediocre team about middle of the pack for goals against, but
18-19 Flames (pace): 302 Goals For, 243 Goals Against (on pace)
18-19 Oilers (on pace): 229 Goals For, 275 Goals Against (on pace)
You can see the Flames goals against has actually risen, but their goals for has dramatically risen to go with it, making them a better team than 2 years ago.
Oilers GA has gone up with injuries on the blue line, but the goals for is terrible, especially when you consider McDavid/Draisaitl/RNH are bringing more goals to the table.
The forwards have completely fallen apart. The NHL game changed in two years and the Oilers not only didn't change to suit it, they've gone backwards.
