Don't get the hate on Simmonds here and other places. He's an upgrade to most teams' 3rd line and provides added grit/powerplay/playoff intensity. He's quick to defend his teammates. since he entered the league hes only behind Ovi for power play goals. Hating a high asking price is fine; just blankly hating on the player is uncalled for.

I would welcome Simmonds on the team as his grit and heavy game wouldbe very helpful for the playoffs, but boy, where does he slot right now with the bottom 6 playing so well and the top 6 forwards already established. Neal would have to slot back in at some point as well. Tough decision to be made.

Better not be a 1st involved though. His production has been sliding for a while now.

Would absolutely welcome Simmonds and his grit heading into the post season. I have a feeling Treliving could work some of his wizardly magic and acquire him for a good price.

My guess is that Flyers would just keep him if its anything higher than a 2nd. IMO i don't think he can be had for a good price because of that.

I don't hate Simmonds, per se. I understand the need for toughness in the lineup and Simmonds can certainly provide that element. He's been a good player in his career and he seems like a good guy.

He's on pace for about 35 points. That's what bothers me. In my opinion, giving up anything of significant value for that production would be a mistake. I don't think he'll move the needle much in any positive way in terms of underlying numbers or actual counting stats. Hits, sure, but it strikes me as just trading for another Neal.

Simmonds also strikes me as a guy that manages to score those greasy playoff-type goals. I would love to have him on the team, dependent on the price.

Keep hearing the asking price by Chuck Fletcher for Wayne Simmonds is high...1st pick and a prospect...Teams are shying away.

As they should. He doesn’t hold this value anymore.

I'm coming around to a deal that involves a pick other than a first and a B prospect. based on what I think he could add, and where he'd fit in the lineup (3rd line, second unit PP). No roster players.

The Flames could give him a look-see for a re-signing but I don't think so, given his probable salary demands versus his spot in the lineup.

If they did it I'd see a couple possibilities:

Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm
Tkachuk/Backlund/Frolik
Neal/Bennett/Simmonds (what a nightmare line for the opposition)
Janko/Ryan/Czarnik/Mangiapane/Hathaway

or

G/M/L
Tkachuk/Backlund/Simmonds
Bennett/Janko/Neal (was starting to show progress)
mix and match fourth line

I'd hate to see Flames give up a 1st for Simmonds. Surely the price will come down?

2nd and Lazar - probably not enough, eh?

Noodles on TSN says Flames are very much in on Simmonds. Really hope it's nothing more than a 3rd, even though that's obviously unrealistic.

Thing is - they aren't making the POs, Simmonds is done there. Something is better than nothing.

love Simmonds, but it depends on the price. I'd do something like a 3rd this year and a 2nd next year, but beyond that? Nope.

Yeah I love simmonds too, strictly as a rental, but the price has to be right and that ask just isn't

Nyquist went for a 2nd and a conditonal 3rd (could turn into a 2nd). There's just no way Simmonds should cost more ... or even as much, Nyquist has been really good this year. Fletcher will have to come down on the price at some point.

Simmonds, for the right price, would be a good fit on this team.

If Zuccarello and Nyquist get a 2nd/3rd, Simmonds should either be lower than that price or on par with that.

I would give Calgary's 2019 3rd and 2020 2nd round picks for Simmonds. That price would be a good price and doesn't sell the farm at all.
