No one sat on either Calgary or Stockton. So unless they intend to make no trades, there’s nothing to read into it. I suspect even an injury to a flame would not prevent a trade to a bottom dweller. That’s not true in reverse...

This is usually when Treliving swoops in and Wizards his way through everybody!

So, when do the Flames fly to New York? Tonight? Better get that trade call done now! Tomorrow? They have until they check out of the hotel to have the call completed. Makes sense if Stone is going to be a Flame that they have him fly with the team.

His “wonder what happens to “ list didn’t sound too specific.

He did say midnight to tomorrow afternoon

I don’t think optimizing team travel or Stones travel is a remote factor in timing of any deal.

I'm not sure how Shannon has his job. I don't think he is an insider at all. I rarely agree with his insights and he doesn't break anything that another insider has already talked about.

But I'll play along. Flames we're a front runner. They don't like the price and said "No thanks." Sens struggle getting the trade done with other teams due to the high price. Tre swoops in near the end and makes an offer that beats all other teams offers and is less than what Flames and Sens were previously talking about.

Treliving seems to get cold feet at the deadline, but happily goes whale hunting at the draft.

I get it, and if we were a bubble team this year I'd be all for standing pat yet agin. But you can't expect to be back in this exact position next year. It's been my entire lifetime since we've been here. If these guys are a scorer away from making a real run.. take a good, hard look at it.

Cold feet or didn't see a need based on the team's chances as well as the cost of making a deadline trade.

Im torn. On one hand adding Stone would be amazing, but the price to get him would sting.

I think I'd rather see the Flames roll with what they have and keep all their picks and prospects.

Then take a run at Stone in July.

If Treliving believes he’s done quality work assembling this team, he damn well better think they’ll be right back in this spot next year. 40 years of Flames history is irrelevant to how this version of the Flames will fair, for good and bad.

I wouldn't trade Valimaki straight up for a signed Stone.

We really don't know Treliving at the deadline on a team going somewhere ... hasn't happened.

2015 the team had the Giordano injury and he was ballsy and sold anyway.
2016 he was aggressive in dumping assets.

Last year was pretty tame, and rightfully so.

But we don't know how he behaves in this situation.
