The Flames version of these picks would not be as valuable as those of Dallas.
Actually they would be more valuable. While the actual picks are likely lesser value, the chance of the conditions being met are likely quite a bit better.

Was Treliving the first to negotiate a conditional pick depending on whether a team wins two rounds in the playoffs (ie the Kris Russell trade)? Seems like it happens frequently nowadays...
When Pronger was traded to the Ducks there was a condition that if the Ducks made the SCF’s (they ended up winning the Cup), the Oilers would get an additional first rounder
First, the cost of a rental remains reasonable: 2nd + 3rd... about what Glencross returned
Second, the condition that it becomes a 1st if the team goes deep is a great one for rentals IMO (both teams happy).
Third, having the 2nd condition of signing is also very fair for both teams, with the Stars probably not likely to re-sign him, but the Rangers get comped if they do.
Love the trade, personally. Though I too would be nervous about a Dallas matchup.

Henrik Lundqvist was searching for the correct words with which to describe Mats Zuccarello, the teammate with whom the goaltender has been closest through his 14-year tenure on Broadway, when instead he told a story that explained it all
“He comes over to our place for dinner and first thing, goes to see our two kids,” said Lundqvist, husband of Therese and father of 6-year-old Charlise and 3-year-old Juli. “He says to them, ‘Have you had your candy today? Do you know that we’re going to have candy for dinner?’
“Well, thanks a lot! Just what we need as parents! There’s no candy! But that’s him … always wanting to stir things up, always having a fun and unique way with people. He’s one of a kind and he’s become a close friend.”
“We hit it off right away. We spoke the same language — he speaks Swedish. It’s almost like I think he is Swedish until he’s around people from Norway. We’re the same in a lot of ways, have the same feelings and view of a lot of things, but there are also differences in the way we think and see things. I’ll keep those to myself.
“But as a teammate, on the ice as a player, his intensity and compete level are very similar to me.”
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!

Zuccarello said he thinks his arm his broken, but he does not know for sure. Also did not know if he needed to have surgery on it or not.
