So what happened to the Ferland trade talk?

Are the Hurricanes going to hold on to him and let him walk this summer.

Total fleece job by the Flames on that trade.

They're in a playoff spot and desperate for ticket sales.

Ferland really came back to Earth. He started the season hot, but couldn't maintain it. I think the Canes really got their hopes up and aren't getting the offers they had their heart set on earlier in the season.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to re-sign him instead.

No he hasn’t. He’s one of the better players on that team. He’s putting up points (including pp points) and hits. He’s playing great. I don’t get the hate for this player at all.

Ferland is a streaky 40ish point guy, (when playing with good talent) whos big and plays a hard nose game

He is what he is. He's worth a late first or a 2nd and a prospect.

Concussion slowed Ferland down a little, and Niederreitter acquisition ate into his production.

Still a perfect second liner.

This is the kind of stuff I mean. What’s a “streaky” 40 point player? Is that a 40 point player? Yes. I’m not debating he’s a 40 point guy, who has the ability to be 20g-20a, all while leading your team in hits. That’s what he is. What’s wrong with that???

How can you be a not streaky 40 point guy? You throw in “streaky” as a slight to the player. 40 point guys are 40 point guys. You need those.

Yeah, started the season for the first month or so as a ppg player, but has regressed back to where one would expect.

I like him as a player, but if he is in your top 6, then you have depth problems. I think Carolina wants top 6 value for him in a trade.

Going by what Dzingel and Zucarello got, I wouldn't give more than a 2nd rounder for him as a rental.

He would currently be 6th in points for Flames forwards and has only played 53 games.

Okay, so where do you line Ferland up in this roster? Hes sure as heck not taking Lindholms spot. And he doesn't play well with anyone else so...... Ferlands a 40 point guy with better players who make him better. Hes a maybe 30 (that's being generous I think) points guy ....maybe when pushed down the line up. We have the data. We know this when it comes to the Flames specifically.

Honestly, the love affair with Ferland is as equally as flummoxing to me as people who "hate" on him is to you.

.... why the heck would you assume top line duty???? This is why the conversation can’t even get started. Extreme vs extreme. He’s a middle 6 player.

Not worth a first then, especially as a rental.

100% agree. Wouldn’t say he is. Same with Simmonds.

But I’d be more than happy to see them in the lineup.

Yeah, we do have depth issues on the RW. If Ferland played on the 2nd line RW, it would be an improvement, but wouldn't fix the problem.

Travis Yost is suggesting that the Flames need to add a defencemen for the 3rd pairing. https://www.tsn.ca/where-the-contend...line-1.1262904

The prices are pretty high. If the Flames did nothing but trade a low draft pick for Patrick Nemeth, I would be okay with that. Washington didn’t make a huge addition at the trade deadline last season. They added Kempny.

Maybe the Flames also look at goalie? I still think Howard from Detroit would be a great get at the right price.

Yet washington won the cup with Djoos who was a rookie and traded for kempny who basically had the equivalent of 1 full nhl season under his belt.

So he would be the best of the worst 6 forwards on the flames??
