Lucky we have a top 5 GM.
Unlikely he will over pay.

That Commodore tweet, as someone already pointed out, reminds me of his prediction we were getting Neal. It’s the words used. The language sounds eerily similar.
I’m going to assume we’re getting Hayes and rejoice. I fully believe the cost will be reasonable because I have confidence in Treliving.

Blue Jackets did inquire on acquiring Stone, Duchene, AND Dzingel but price was a little to rich for them
BJs might be do something else by monday, they have a ton of cap room
there is a sense that the Sens would take another crack at re-signing Stone after trading Dzingel
Kypreos says the market is drying up for Stone because ask is too high
would like mirror Duchene deal but problem is the prospects in that deal are maybe B and Cs, but with Stone asking for grade A prospects-guys that can play away
Winnipeg is at the top, followed closely by Calgary, with Nashville and Boston looking in
sens hoping the market resets by monday
looks like the Leafs will be quiet at the deadline
prices are higher than leafs willing to pay
maybe a small deal if anythings
Hayes is plan B for those who miss out on Stone including the Jets
Jets want Hayes on the 2nd line and move Little to the Wing.
price is a 1st and maybe a prospect who isn't NHL ready - Kypreos speculates Logan Stanley from the Jets
Nashville would also look at Hayes
Eric Staal doesn't want to be traded, cannot prevent it. 10 team no trade list.
However, teams are saying that if he really doesn't want to be moved they are not going to trade for him
Pens tried to re-acquire Hagelin, but the salary retention rules prevented them for doing so.
One of the reasons he ended up in WSH
Market expected to heat up for Simmonds - Friedman says SJS, CGY, and Winnipeg will make pushes for him.

Meh, I bet we hold out and grab one of Nyquist, Johansson, Toffoli, Carter or something like that. Down the list and cheaper. But still helps.

I keep thinking up a scenario and then someone points out a couple other names that I have temporarily forgotten about. If the price is lower, Nyquist or Toffoli would rock. Even if it is not, I think you could make the argument either is better than Hayes. At the end of the day, I feel Treliving will scour the market relentlessly until he finds the ideal situation and then capitalize on it.

So, none of the top teams in either conference have done much so far it seems..
Who is left? Stone, Simmonds, and Hayes..

I would be okay with bringing in any one of those guys if the price is right in this order:
1. Stone
2. Hoffman
3. Hayes
4. Nyquist
5. Johansson
6. Simmonds
7. Brassard
