All the prices we are seeing the last couple days scare me. Especially for UFAs. Would love Stone, but do not want to get swept up in a bid war.
Would just as rather go to war with guys like Neal, Stone, and Valimaki coming back

Its interesting that Stone isn't holding up these other deals.
Trying to figure out what that means. Price too high, and teams aren't willing to wait?
Maybe a deal with Calgary is already agreed to and they're just working on an extension? Teehee.

Hayes is the one I’ve wanted for a while. I think the price/risk/reward calculation is the best with him. Stone would cost too much, imo.

Looking at the Zucarello and Dzingle costs, it may be that not having a 2019 2nd round pick is holding us back.

Dzingle 2nds return are from 20 and 21 though so I doubt that’s holding us back too much.

Gotta think any team that can sign an extension for Stone will have to pay more assets in a trade, correct?
So if that is part of a team's offer (the Flames) then doesn't that set the market?
Could the Jets add Stone's salary?

Something caused the dominoes to fall and it's not price because that's been known for some time, likely. The last scenario isn't out of question. That or stone resigning had a breakthrough and GMs were notified.

I really don't think the Flames should do much. There's lots to say about disrupting team chemistry especially when the team has played great lately. There are literally no passengers on this team right now and would like to see what they have before making changes in the off season. I'm wondering how many teams have had success acquiring major pieces at the trade deadline. Off the top of my head there was Bourque in Colorado but that team was already stacked and adding depth to your blue line is never a bad thing imo.
