The more I think on this the more I don't want it to happen. Felt the same way about the Hamilton trade when we got him though. That didn't turn out half bad once we got Lindholm using Hamilton as trade bait.

That looks about right because it’s for a signed Stone. Ottawa will go for it but it will all be up to Stone if he wants to play here. And of course why wouldn’t he? It’s a no brainer

Yeah so we need Smith to take the reins the rest of the way, keeping Rittich cheap for next contract, and then have him immediately become a 60 game quality starter.
Not impossible. Not anything to bank on.

They know it would be tampering when Mark says he'd like to live on 7th Ave and 9th St.

This could be done and under the table, as bad as it sounds, I mean are they going to search through their text histories? Just takes Conroy having a little friendly phone call with Michael to get the temperature of the water on Mark's end. There wouldn't be any official communication lines between the two sides.

If the price of any deal is having to go with Rittich and Gillies next year, count me as a big no.

Yes, I doubt Michael Stone would go to Ottawa if the Flames wanted to sign Mark Stone. Neal has negative value, Ryan is probably pretty close to even.
And if Backlund has a no movement clause, that basically just leaves Frolik and Brodie.
Frolik definitely makes the most sense. But I'm pretty sure the Flames would have to send more money to the Sens in order to re-sign Stone and Tkachuk.

I suspect you're right, putting Andersson next to Gio the last two games may have been more than just Brodie having a couple of previous brain farts.

Another sneaky advocate of the Flames could be Curtis Lazar. While he can't be happy playing in the minors (is he up now?), he's been a huge fan of the A Class of the Flames organization.
He used to room with Mark Stone in Ottawa. So, a brother on the Flames, and a good friend in Lazar, seems like he'd get awfully good intel of the class of the Flames organization if he were to decide to re-sign here.
Can't be stated enough how much of a ****show it's been in Ottawa with that ownership group. Coming to Calgary, the stability under the Treliving management regime, and overall family-like atmosphere (re: the Big Ern story last week), a lot of boxes checked for someone like Stone to commit long term I'd think.

Further to last tweet, I can’t imagine Flames would pay big tag on a rental. Would need an extension done as part of a Stone deal. Giving up 1st rounders and prospects on a rental doesn’t seem his style.

Well, now I’m getting greedy and want Hayes and Stone. Treliving’s wizardry can make the math work somehow.

I dont think people realise how good Stone is. Surprised posters are saying they wouldnt give up middle tier players for him. He would literally become our 2nd best winger after Gaudreau over night. I for one hope Treliving somehow fits him in.

Yeah people seem to forget he had more Calder votes than Johnny, and deserved them too

If we get Stone, and he is re-signed, I think the eventual plan is that Johnny would be traded before his contract is up. He’ll fetch whatever we give up for Stone++, and will in all likelihood be paid as a top-10 player at his next contract. NJ/Philly/Boston/NYR will all be major players there.
I believe that’s the longterm thinking on Stone.

Well right now...thats exactly what it would have to be....and thats giving Rittich a raise of some substance as he has arb rights as well.
Add in signing Stone for 9 Million a year, Tkachuk at 8 Million a year and you are not only not adding a G of any sort, you are losing at least 2 F off the current roster and without question Brodie...minimum. Also need to sign Bennett, Mangiapane and Hathaway ( or replacement) and replace the guys traded away for picks.

So Roger Millions just asked Boomer if a contract extension would have to happen first. Boomer responds with "100%".
How would that work?

So he has been THAT much better than Lindholm this year?
I don't believe it.
