Agree that his initial post was trollish but he ended up giving more details after that. Once he gave those details there was no reason for Flash & others to keep going at him.

There are 11k plus posts in this thread - and maybe 50 trades have been made in the NHL this season, and maybe 10 of those trades had any consequence.

Most of what we talk about in this thread is BS. I'd much rather people feel comfortable to post what they are hearing, even if they are just having a little fun with it. Really it's what makes CP so great, because even though 99% of it is false there are times where we do get the tidbit of information that ends up being true.

And if we call every new poster an idiot for sharing something that might not be true or happen then nobody will feel comfortable posting.

Well, Ottawa isn't very good at garnering a king's ransom and the Duchene deal wasn't madness so if you can Stone for something that isn't unreasonable then this is the time. Rarely are players of his ilk available, and even less frequently does that combine with a Flames season like this.

Basically the point Steinberg made, and I agree with him. I think your chances are good to re-sign and Tre has the chops to move things around to lock up Tkachuk and Stone both.

I post here for fun, not because I have to. I am in a fortunate position where I hear these things and figured it would be fun to share them with a forum I regularly read. I acknowledge my first post wasn't detailed enough, duly noted. But I have held off posting anything like this prior to a couple days ago for this very reason.

Was it trollish...sure.

Was it malicious...not at all.

It's a thread where 90% of posts are people making up their own wacky trade ideas. Big deal if somebody wants to have a little fun and get people to push and probe for more details.

That's kinda what this thread is for - just a fun place for people to have fun with trade rumors. All your response does is make people who might actually have something to share less comfortable to do so because they are just going to get attacked for it. IMO your response to him was a much bigger problem than anything he did.

If people just want the news from Dreger, Mackenzie, and Friedman then they might as well go right to the source and follow them on Twitter or just block everyone except for Sureloss.

Calgary will set its internal max available and see if its good enough for Ottawa.

personally, i agree with Steinberg that Andersson and Valimaki are untouchable... i am not even sure i'd give up both kylington and dube and 2 firsts (on conditional) for Stone... one of those two plus one of Mangi/Czarnik is the furtherest i'd go personally.

I enjoy hearing these little tidbits. I thought that’s why we have these forums. People need to chill out a little bit.
