I doubt we see major subtraction from the roster for most trade options.

The fantasy that the Sens are going to turn rental player into a hockey trade doesn’t make sense. We are not Sens fans so why are we enhancing the value so much? The Sens do not sign Stone and then shop him for other teams elite players it doesn’t work that way. These Tkachuk and Monahan suggestions are way out to lunch.
The Sens will get the rental return. Picks, prospects, roster player, and conditional assets of the players stay with their new team.

Tkachuk, Frolik, Neal,
for
Dzingel, Stone, Duchene (deals in place)
Completely overalls our awful second line and gives us enough cap to sign them all.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Dzingel-Duchene-Stone
Bennett-Backlund-Ryan

the way things are trending here, by this evening I expect to see suggestions of Gaudreau, Giordano (50% retained), Valimaki, 2019 1st and 2020 2nd for Stone and Dzingel.

Interesting but I think the Flames get considerably better while the Sens get considerably worse. Frolik and another player on that trade, who shall not be mentioned by name, are of negative value (imho).
So it’s basically Chucky for those three Sens, with the Sens doing us a massive favour and taking the other two Flames.

We've never seen a sign and trade, and probably never will. Stone's not going to get within 3 months of UFA and opt to take a below market value deal to go to a brand new organization. There are a ton of reasons for this, including the fact that you're making your new team much worse by virtue of the assets they spend to acquire you.
For any talk of Frolik, I would bet that Ottawa and Edmonton are almost certainly on his no-trade list. If he's still really unhappy, that might be the entirety of his list.
I think the question to be asked is would you do something like Bennett + 3rd + lesser prospect for Stone as a rental (with some chance of re-signing if things click really well, but I don't really think you can let that enter into the equation)? Definitely not sure that gets it done for Ottawa, and not sure I'd do it anyways...

Well, Marian Hossa from Ottawa to Atlanta is the only I can remember.
SIGNING TEAM: Ottawa Senators
SIGNING DATE: August 23, 2005
TRADED: August 23, 2005
https://senshot.com/2015/05/07/throw...ssa-trade/amp/
Quote:
The day of the trade was August 23rd, 2005, and the first season after the full year lockout was about to begin. It was extremely odd timing because on the same day Hossa had signed a three-year extension with the team, and it looked like he would be staying for quite a while.
However, the extension was only so his value could improve for the Thrashers, as the Senators were looking to pry Heatley away after he wanted out of Atlanta.
|
Regardless, I think the more realistic scenario is the acquiring team asks to speak to Stone and his agent prior to completing the trade, if even to get an understanding of their camp's ask, or to possibly complete an extension. That is something that happens often.

Anyone who thinks there'll be a blockbuster multi-player trade is out to lunch.
The Flames don't need a major overhaul.
A roster tweak here or there for assets. Maybe one bigger move.

Mostly my thoughts looking at the Athletics trade bait list was, man there are a LOT of really good forwards available this year. Panarin, Stone, Duchene, Hayes, Zuccarello, Hoffman, Dzingel, Simmonds, Ferland...
Makes me hopeful that there's a good deal to be had.
(It also makes me momentarily hate the Neal contract even more, because of the amount of cap tied up.)

Yes that's what is posted but don't always believe what u read it was a last minute decision its been almost 2 days since he so called blocked the shot. I am still optimistic that its part of a trade I think we are the only team that Mark Stone would want to play for because his brother is here and we are a top team it makes total sense to me we will have to wait and see.

It's one thing to be held out of a game as preparation for a trade, he wouldn't be held out of morning skate unless he's actually injured.
It's also not a last minute decision, there's 6.5 hours until gametime!

I know what I won't believe.
He hasn't skated yesterday or today, it isn't that last minute.

Its obvious that the Sens aren't going to get what they want for the players that are on the trade block.. just look at the Matt Duchene trade lol.

Draft Pick

How about Tkachuk, Frolik, Phillip's and a 3rd. For a signed Stone and Dzingel.
Tkachuk brothers united and our second line is Stone-Backlund_-Dzingel

I thought Kylington wasn't going to be playing against the Ducks, but is traveling with the team to play against the Sens?
