All I can get

Initially, the Wings were trying to woo Foo as a NCAA free agent. Wonder if they'd want him as a throw-in on any deal.

I think the bigger question is...why do the Leafs do that? Isn't Brodie LD?

I think, similar to "friends with X", playing with family is often talked about but rarely makes a difference to signings. Heck, if family is that important he signs in Winnipeg, if he still has family there. Also I don't see Mike Stone being here long term anyway.
|
If he signs 8 years he probably ends up somewhere around 9-9.5. So you’d be leaving 20m sitting on the table that can go up in smoke at any time over the next five years, injury or drop in play or anything else. It’d be foolish to not push for 7-8 years imo.

Leafs just traded for Muzzin who is left handed. The last thing the Leafs need is another left-handed defensemen. They already have too many. Babcock is amazingly stubborn for playing a lefthanded Dman on his offside.
Also the Leafs wouldn't even have the cap to take Brodie even if they wanted. They have to keep room for all the ELC bonuses they will be paying out in the offseason.

Dubnyk would be a neat add. From Calgary too. And considering Minnesota has a) been given the green light to rebuild and b) apparently makes terrible trades (see Coyle) it’s worth a shot and solves our number one need IMO.
Lastly, cherry on top is he used to play for the Oilers so seeing him hoist a Cup in Calgary would be extra fantastic.

Well, firstly, posters were saying 8.5 for 8 years. But in any event IMO he can take the 10.5 for 5 and then get at least another three-four at 8. I really don't think players like him worry about injury. The terms signed recently show this.

Disappointed we missed out on Coyle or Hagelin at those prices.
No thanks to Stone and/or Duchesne, they are stars, but will destroy the cap situation and drain prospect/draft pool. Team has not proven itself yet for an all in approach (which rarely works anyway).
Dzingel however, he’s interesting. Good motor, speedy, on pace for 30g, the right age & contract situation. He’ll cost half of the big two.
Zuccharello, sure, depends on cost - need depth scoring BUT the guy is getting a LOT of minutes in NY. Can he keep up the pace in a lesser role?
Hayes, yea, would be my target.

When was the last time a goalie trade at the deadline panned out?

Roloson?
The Dubnyk trade was about a month and a half before the deadline, but it also worked out well.

When was the last time a team was top 3 in their conference almost all season and had a glaring weakness in goal?
I don't think there enough examples to for a significant sample size.

Don’t want Duchene - if only for not having to regularly read spellings of his name plagued with a superfluous “s” inserted different places.
Stone. Much better.

If it’s true that all 3 of the top guys from Ottawa will be traded... that may help saturate the market. It could lower the cost of acquiring guys like zuccarello, Hayes, or nyquist.

Kane last year received a 1st, a conditional 4th, and a minor prospect that wasn't even on the level of Eat Bread.
Stone is better, but not miles better.
A 1st and say Dube should be enough with a conditional pick if we keep him.

You don’t have zero leverage when multiple teams are bidding for your players.

I'd say a 1st and Dube would be enough to get Stone as a rental with no pre-agreed UFA extension.
Dube and Tkachuk on the flanks would be pretty solid for the Sens.
