So is Sekera recalled now.... if so, what the hell are they going to do about their negative cap space?

Oilers Trivia time!

Q: How many times in the last 30 years have the Edmonton Oilers won at least half their regular season games?

A: Three.

For comparison, the Atlanta Thrashers won at least half their regular season games twice.

If the Flames manage 6 more wins this season, it will be the 15th time they have won at least half their games in the same span of time.

Is Sekera better than at least 3 of their current dmen?

Is he better than Russell? Is he a top 4 even though he has barely played in like 2 years it seems? It will be interesting to see how he is.

Aren't they still over the cap even with the Talbot trade? I believe demoting a player in response to the Sekera call up will be sufficient to achieve compliance however.

It is too funny this 27th overall tire fire is at the cap.

He's probably still a better skater than Manning or Petrovic.

No, they only had to shed about $1.5 I think. Though they lost a tiny bit of ground with Gagner.

I'd put money down on the Oilers becoming the first team in NHL history to finish 32nd in season standings.

With the right result in the Ducks game tonight and Kings game tomorrow, those losers can be down to 30th.

Too bad the Kings blew it last night. Was tied 2-2 until the last minute.

Oilers play Sens next week so last place by the end of the month isn’t out of the realm of possibility

When the Oilers won the lottery in McDavid's year, they brought in Chiarelli who was GM of the Bruins' Stanley Cup Championship team. Nicholson was brought in to break up the Old Boy's Club. MacLellan was hired as a veteran coach to right the product on the ice.

It was a clear message that the Old Boys Club tenure was over.

It made sense that McDavid was the catalyst for this, and would be the corner stone of a new era in Edmonton.

However...

There's something in the water.

If I was Hughes' agent, if drafted by Edmonton I'd send him to the podium with a bottle of water, shake hands, and then inform the Oilers brass that Jack isn't reporting.

If McDavid can't fix the Old Boys Club in Edmonton, no way Hughes can.

He’s also a center. Doubt he wants to be slotted #2 behind McDavid or play wing. Then when his ELC is up how could they pay him what he’s worth?

No, that's a good thing. We don't want the Oilers finishing last. We want them finishing 20th. They don't deserve any more top five picks.
