If the Sens are still negotiating with Stone they certainly won't allow any teams to talk extension with him before a trade.

Stone would be crazy to sign there, even though he gets the additional year

If he's traded before the deadline, he can sign an 8-year deal with his new team once the deadline passes, so even that shouldn't be a big incentive.

I have heard he really likes it there though. I would not be surprised if he stays.

It may be very hard to get quality top-6 forward from a contender at deadline for either Barrie or Z. Thus, Avs might just hope for first-round picks for either and dominate 1st round of draft this summer
|
Barrie, I can see. But who in their right mind would give up a 1st rounder for Zadorov?

I could see the appeal for Zadorov. 23-year-old RHD who played nearly 20 minutes a night last year and who can really play a unique physical game. IDK why he's playing less this year, though.

Being linked to Zucarrello and Stone is highly encouraging to me.
That's one way to replace Neal (until he makes a big return in the playoffs, scoring at will).

Probably because he's not that good and takes stupid penalties.

What I'm saying isn't based on anything read, but simply my observation. I think the Flames are missing a 3rd or 4th line large scorer. If Rick Nash was still playing he'd fit the need perfectly. Though I haven't watched Ducks games in the past year but given where they're in the standings, I'm pretty shocked that Getzlaf and Perry haven't been shopped.

They both have full NMCs and two more years at $8 million+.

RW depth has been a problem with this team for a while. We keep trying to solve it with big “truculent” players (Jones, Brouwer, Neal...and now the suggestion is Stone). I’d prefer we changed course on got skill/speed and not Size.
A Tarasenko-type would be my choice (of course Tarasenko is not being traded by StL now). Please not Stone...I can’t see him being successful here.

Rubbish.
There isn't a team in he league Mark Stone wouldn't immediately become a top 6 difference maker on. Comparing him to two replacement level players and a struggling 30+ year old is way out of line.
The comparison that simply because he is of similar stature and 'truculent' (is he?) we will see the same result as the three players you point out is just silly. Stone would be a clear upgrade on all three, I don't think many would argue.
I would argue he would best winger Backlund has had aside from his occasional shift with Iggy.

Way out of line....hahaha
The exact same thing was said about Brouwer as an upgrade to Jones
The exact same thing was said about Neal as an upgrade to Brouwer
...and now it’s being said about Stone as an upgrade to Neal/Frolik
At the time of signing, not many people were arguing against the Brouwer or Neal signings... look how that turned out. just because I’m in the minority’s, doesn’t mean I’m wrong...I may turn out to be wrong on this signing but that’s something to deal with using hindsight
Tkachuk is not quick. He needs speed in his other wing imho, which is mu theory on the reason that line looks like a new-born baby giraffe trying to roller skate whenever Neal is on it.
Do you not think Zuccarello would fit on that line?

Lol reading your takes is like trying to understand the morning ramblings of a toddler. You dont honestly think that stone is a more comparable player to neal, brouwer, or jones (who in themselves aren't a very comparable group) than to zuccarello? Still very unconvinced that you've actually seen stone play or really know who we're talking about.

Have you ever watched Stone? This is got to be one of the worst takes ever on this forum.
Brouwer and Neal were complimentary players and everyone knew it. Stone will instantly become on par with Gaudreau as the Flames best forward.

Right. Brouwer and Neal were guys who played on one level - second or third line, and Treliving hoped they'd maybe take a step up. Stone is a first line player would actually be stepping in on the second line.
Stone plays nothing like those two players.
