Sioux City's Martin Pospisil suspended 12 games for a combination of spearing, abuse of officials, and an altercation he was involved in with a fan at Omaha last Friday. He'll be back for the playoffs, but this is still the longest suspension I have seen in my 3 years in the USHL
Not good for his development skill wise if he sits for 2 months, but on the other hand, you can't put him in the AHL and shirk his penalty, that's not good for him from a development of maturity and responsibility stand point.
I like his temper and he's a very interesting prospect, but he needs to serve his punishment. He can still workout and skate and work on his skills. Flames should be sending their development guys down to work with him both mentally and on skills development during this period.

Not playing in games for two months has an impact on devp, especially at that age.
Enough to warrant fast tracking him to a pro league at 19 years old while taking him from his junior team mid season? Seems a bit dramatic for me. Junior players have missed full seasons and went on to have successful careers. Plus, the USHL isn't even as competitive as the WHL. Bringing him to the AHL would probably hurt his confidence more than anything.
No need to alter your development plan for the kid because he will miss 1 month of games (not 2).
After watching him today and keeping a close eye on his progress this season, I'm beginning to really like this pick. Pospisil is a gamer in every sense of the word. I was very worried by his huge PIM numbers in his draft year, but he's no goon. He can skate very well, has good vision, and a great shot. He's also tremendous with his physicality -- he threw a gorgeous hip-check today.
Think this has a chance to be a great pick if Pospisil continues to progress. And I'll gladly own my early reaction if he does. He substantially reduced his PIM numbers last season, which is very encouraging, and he improved his offense.

I don't know if a prospect camp in July is any place to be making proclamations about high PIMS in his draft year being bull****, lol.
