If you hate the radio station that much why do you bother to listen?

I didn't move back here until 2013 and didn't become a regular listener until 2014 so I have nothing to compare him to (missed both the Richards, and Walker eras), but I really like Pinder. Loved the morning show between him Boomer and Rhett, they had great chemistry. Since he left I find I much prefer the Pinder & Steinberg show over the morning now. Morning Show dynamic just isn't the same without him and I think they know it, hence the return of Walker's sarcastic player profile to help fill more entertaining content.
I really enjoy Pinder & Steinberg together. I can see how he's not for everybody though. I actually hate sports analytics but I like him. They have good energy on the afternoon show (at least during my commute home when I'm listening). That's what the morning show is missing now; without Pinder it's just two very funny but tired 40-somethings who don't overly like people, playing their "dad music". It needs a jolt of energy.

I agree. I actually like Pinder a lot. The guy knows his stuff, and has a good voice for radio. It's really too bad he isn't the one doing pbp for the Flames after Peter Maher retired. I find him a lot easier to listen to than Wills. And him being a more critical guy willing to give his opinions, he might offer some better insights vs. Wills, who's mostly just a cheerleader for the team.

I'm bewildered by the NBA fantasy advice in the am.
Is there anyone outside of GTA that plays NBA fantasy?

He really is unlistenable and i tuned him out months ago right after he left the morning.

Couldn’t disagree more. Pinder is super knowledgeable and the morning show has completely deteriorated without him. Klein seems like a great guy but really adds nothing. He just nods along with the other two goombas.

It was interesting listening to Boomer and Rhett giving their take on the episode yesterday morning. I figured they would support their boy from the morning show, or at least take a neutral stance to an internal work tiff. But they made it clear their sympathies were with Nault and they're not fans of Pinder's approach to 'debate.'
That said, I do enjoy Pinder. He's an opinionated blowhard, but it's usually an informed opinion. And he's one of the few guys on the Fan who has the voice and verbal fluency of a professional broadcaster.

Nault knows nothing. He was awful filling in during the holiday season. He didn't even know that the Dallas Stars were rife with injuries when the Flames played them.

That’s true. He doesn’t have many crutch words like “you know” or “uhmmm” or “I think...”.
He also doesn’t run words together or speak too fast with “Galgary, Graygle Casino, or SporesNet”, he enunciates well, & I think he has the work ethic to improve his craft.
One of the issues is that I doubt there is much to professionally motivate him right now. He has a young family & a move to Toronto would mean cataclysmic upheaval. He’s in a nice spot here. He just needs to improve his listening skills & let his guests speak.”
I agree he would be an upgrade on Wills as a PBP guy, but his criticism would be shelved pretty quickly or he would last 1 year, as the PBP guy is a Flames employee.

Is there another sports radio station in Calgary that I'm not aware of? Some people like to hear discussion about last night's Flames game?
What's hard is listening to two people practically yell at each other simultaneously. I am in my vehicle at different times every day, and I have a few stations that I'll check for talk or music. Depending on last night's Flames game, or lack thereof, 960 is one that I check. Sometimes it's really worth listening to. I heard the first Bill Peters interview, I heard the Nicholson PC, I hear discussion between the hosts that is often fine to listen to.
What I also hear a lot of are two people (with increasing VOLUME) talking over each other for what seems like minutes on end, so I change the station and listen so some damn song I've heard 1000x. Even as a casual listener, I can tell that they're in one of their little high school tiffs, and they're going to yap and wag fingers and move their heads side to side on each other for the whole segment, so I change station.
Literally the only downside to the Flames doing so well this season is my desire to listen to people discuss it, because the only place to listen is 960.

There’s always 770 during the evening. Also Maher is on XL radio.

Also, X Comedy on 1060.
Hope Adnan Virk comes back on 960 in some fashion... His segments were fairly entertaining. Still can't believe that guy would leak that an ESPN online show was being cancelled, like a day after the meeting, so close after renewing his contract with the network. Like what was he expecting? Twitter to explode and that demand ESPN brings back the show? A Petition?
He certainly made Baseball and college basketball sound way more entertaining in his segments.

Gotta give credit when they’re good and for the little I listened this morning the boys seemed good. Chatting about the Panthers and it was interesting to listen to.

Curious now...what did they talk about? I rarely hear anyone outside of this area discuss the Panthers for any length of time, so I don't really know how they're perceived outside of this market.

I turned the radio off as soon as virk came on. I could not stand that guy.
Also, In general I dont dislike Pinder. Until they get into any kind of "opinion" piece. He will state his side, then let the others do theirs (usually never lets them finish) and disagrees and tells them why they are wrong. Drives me nuts! Personally I was laughing when will tore him one. Someone needed to as I doubt Pat was ever going to.

Largely the struggles of the Panthers. Goaltending and their dollars , Defensive lapses, high end players falling short of expectation. Much of it seemed like generating a assumption off of stat lines though.
