"How Much Trouble Are The Calgary Flames In? | Tim and Sid"

Not sure if this has been posted yet. But have you guys listened to this little rant?
I thought it was a complete joke...

I hate Toronto media. Period.

Tim and Sid are awesome for Toronto and eastern teams across all sports, but they pretty much admit on air that they don't follow the west too much.
They joke about how annoying it is when western teams get voted in to be covered on their show and the discussion usually shows why. It's in their way of being an eastern based show, and that's fine because they're incredible talents and I'd rather them focus on what they know then bull**** a bunch stuff in an attempt to seem like a nationwide show.

I don’t have an issue with that segment at all. Seems like a pretty reasonable observation.

Leafs are 6-3-1 in their last 10, Flames are 5-3-2
Lets get everyone to focus on the struggling Flames

Tim and Sid are hilarious!

They just dont realize that they're the Clowns. They know that Edmonton Sucks and Toronto has a hockey team. Sometimes.

I could encapsulate their entire sports knowledge in a thimble with room left over.

Tim and Sid are one of very few people who give good chunks of time to the Flames. I actually like that segment as the whole thing isn't really wrong.
Bottom line, Tree has a couple of weeks to see if he really needs to go grab a goalie. Can the team snap out of this funk in a reasonable time frame. It's all perfectly reasonable. And its fair for Sid to bring up the sins of the Flames past. Seeing as things were okay-ish before Smitty went down. Then Rittich was good for a stretch and then shat the bed. The team collapsed, he wasn't wrong to bring that up either.

Either way, Flames have a buffer on a playoff spot and also have time to read this team before pulling the trigger on things. All I know is, they better snap out of this wonky funk they crawled into out of the break.

No, he just kind of was preparing for the sky to fall. A little alarmist but nothing out of wack. He wasn't wrong on anything IMO.

Gio mentioning the team on a slide isn't evidence of impending doom, its a good thing -- they aren't being complacent about their place in the standings and shrugging it off, they want to get back to their winning ways.
I honestly see more of hate to lose attitude from the Flames this year, and with Bill Peters behind the bench I don't think this will be a prolonged stretch. Just part of the natural ups and downs of a season. Wouldn't be shocked if they rattle off 4-5 W's now.

Pretty much every good team, save for Tampa, have had a skid or two this year .
They'll pull out of it, but until they do - it's certainly worth talking about.

My big red flag so far out of this break is Tkachuk. He doesn't look right. And last night he was bad.

Mix that with the offense going through a dry spell, things don't look great.

The offense will bounce back (I imagine beginning tomorrow night in a big way), but we have no reason to believe Mike Smith will ever bounce back, as he's been too bad for too long and Rittich hasn't been around long enough for anyone to say with any certainty that he will bounce back to his Oct/Nov/Dec form.

No team plays perfect hockey, and yes the Flames have made some sloppy giveaways as of late - but every single one of them has ended up in our net. That's not how it's supposed to work.

At the minimum, we need another goalie so that Smith either doesn't play anymore or plays 5 or less games from here on out. The next 10 days are significant for the Flames from a goaltending perspective, as goofy as it may sound.

Backlund, Tkachuk and Gaudreau will snap out of their funk.

Maybe he and the Flames have issues re: contract extension.

Yeah not that big a deal.
It was a little weird Sid seems so obsessed with last year but didn’t at all mention the personnel changes that make this team different.

Also a little weird they were so focused on us being a wild card team, like wtf? Those teams aren’t even in our rear view mirror they’re so far back. And he brought up Vegas too. Odd. Why not bring up whether SJ is a major threat to us and how important the division is and whether or not we’ve got the tools to beat SJ in 7. Instead it’s all wild card this and Vegas that.

I don't think Faizal was saying that they might become a wild card team, he was saying that the wild card teams are not a threat. The issue being that if the Flames don't step it up, they're playing Vegas, as Sid noted. But hey, even if that happens, whatever - you're going to have to beat some good teams eventually.
