I like the CFL and the Stamps, but how do you justify a new stadium to the average Calgarian, for a venue that will host 10 football games a year?
Mosaic cost $278 Million - government funding plus ticket surcharge. It has hosted a few concerts, but I can't tell how many events are held beside football.

Be interesting to see especially how the other teams pitches to him went. Sask likely threw as much cash as they could. Argos probably pitched him on MLSE and Tavares and Givinco and Leonard and how he could be a media star.
Wonder too if any of thsoe teams gave him a NFL out clause in case some team comes calling or he gets the itch again down the road.
Also, Ricky Ray hasn't formally announced retirement, has he?

You don't. For 4 solid months the Riders and Bombers stadiums are empty in winter. Outside of CIS football, and probably amateur sports use the field sporadically.
Calgary can't hold concerts in that location, even if they built a new stadium at Foothills with the noise bylaw.
IMO, I can't imagine for 70% of the free agents and players in the CFL, that McMahon is a deterrent. For most, it is money first. Other leagues where salaris are in the millions of dollars for even the lowest guys on the totem pole, location and facilities come into play to attract players. Outside of that, the CFL players can't be all that picky, or, the choice is more driven by playing for a coach who you used to play under who has moved, or, stadium wise, it's one of the two indoor stadiums vs playing outdoors.
With that said, if the Stamps could get a nicer praciric facility or even bigger locker room and training room if even nearby off site close by, it would alleviate those concerns. The actually stadium for games for players doesn't really matter on gsme day.

Hopefully, those dollars saved can be used to shore up some holes on the defensive side of the ball.

I think Huff will be doing a lot of leg work from now until May looking at some hidden gem D players.
The one thing I love about the stamps is its next man up and they usually step in that role without missing a beat.

He did also mention that is was full on backup or bust for him in the NFL. He mentioned somebody else who was given $1M to be a 3rd string, but then ended up being cut. Would have made coming back a little harder if teams already had their marquee player.

The quarter back shuffle in the CFL is complete; going to be an interesting season.
Good to see the not so rough riders got left with the last unpicked QB that they resigned.

Huff and Dickenson have made the CFL better with having staff members and players leaving the organization. I have no doubt those two will plug and fill the vacancies on the team.

400-600 is not a lot of money when your playing window is so short. He should go all in for the money. Careers are short. Seems like he did take a bit less to stay but probably more about organization than "hometown".
