1st+Kylington/Andersson+Frolik+Jankowski for Stone
I am okay with having a 3-5 year window:
Forwards: Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Stone, Lindholm, Monahan
Defense: Hanifin, Giordano, Valimaki, Hamonic
If it means that we need to get rid of Backlund to fit in Stone, I am okay with doing that too. Give a guy like Dube a chance next year and see if we can have our own cheap second line option. Then let Ryan, Bennett, and Neal take over the third line with defensive duties.
After that, let the re-building begin.

If we land Stone I'll lose my mind.
He would be very tricky to keep, but bridging Tkachuk to make it possible would be an option.
We've heard random suggestions that the Flames are interested by Mark Stone, in times when it was an odd remark. He'd be expensive to acquire and to re-sign, but a phenomenal addition.

Would that be the highest price ever paid for a rental. Seems a lot for a UFA.

Tkachuk seems to be buying in to this, creating salary room with 0 points the last 6 games.

Spend the assets to get Hayes. We need a 2nd line Centre. Nothing against Backs but we need some fire power.

Flames need to address goaltending asap. Majority of teams that win the cup have top tier #1 goalies.

^ *sigh* (2 posts up)
Now?
- Flames got destroyed tonight, shredded by the top team in the league
- Flames goalie is 20-5-4, after this loss
- no goalie wins this game
Lousy take. With company, you’re not alone. But... lousy take

Well there are none of those available. And no Bob “I choke in the playoffs” doesn’t count. I think we’ll have to live with Rittich as starter.

Is Hayes even an upgrade on Backlund? Hayes would be a 3C on this team. Its not a complete upgrade anyways.

I don't think anyone wants to replace Rittich
Get someone better than Smith and see who earns it

I really hate the thought of Vegas, Nashville, Winnipeg or San Jose getting Stone.

#1 Goaltender

Only thing I am worried about is if Rittich pulls an Elliot in the playoffs.

Tonight proves this team needs an upgrade imo. Stone should be target 1,some kind of goalie upgrade at 2,Hayes should target 3, Simmonds/Zuccarello at 4 and a guy like kronwall at the bottom of the priority list .

Hayes is better and he has size. Homerism is a bad thing around here sometimes. 3 strong Centres would not hurt this team.

Why worry about this? He has not let in any mystery goals from the half boards.
Let in a boatload of awesome goals tonight, but that’s not what ‘an Elliott’ is

you are the anti-homer though
Hayes has 8 more points than Backlund and isn't as good defensively no matter what you want to say
I like the player but not at the expense of Backlund
Why do most of your posts come after losses?

Well what's wrong with adding a big Centre who gives us more options? He is a reasonable target. I would like too add a big name but we don't have the assets. Do you monitor when i post? Lol kind of weird. I never suggested trading or getting rid of Backs.

I'm thinking about the lines like this. You have scoring line A (Mony) Scoring line B (?? Hayes etc.) and defensive line A (Backlund) and defensive line B (Ryan)
Looking at it like that maybe a offensive center is the way to go to play with Bennett and Neal while I don't think a Ryan-Jankowski-Hathaway line is a bad thing.

Homerism? I basically said at best they are a wash. You said we need an actual 2C. Basically saying Backlund isnt a 2C but Hayes is. I at no point said 3 Strong centers was a bad thing - was just pointing out Hayes isn't a clear cut upgrade on Backlund as you suggested.
