My personal experience with Kal-Tire says it's entirely possible they did this to the OP. They:
- Mounted my tires with a T-Rex, damaging the sidewall
- Refused to sell me tires and wheels without also selling me TPMS sensors (but only told me when I showed up for my appointment, and we got into it...)
Lots of good memories in this thread
Sending an email with pictures to head office and Vernon got them to sell me new tires at cost.
That said, I had outstanding service from a Kal-Tire on 42nd Ave. So it really depends on the manager and the employees they hire....

OP goes dark for a while, who does that when posting a rant post, don't they hit refresh like any other regular human? Check.

By the way, the same thing happened to my mother in law a few years ago and I believe it was a kal tire as well. As soon as my father in law showed up though, keys were back in hand. So they were just bullying my mother in law. Classy.

I was scanning through the Wannamaker thread and someone suggested we needed a "CP Classics" area to sticky threads that deserve to be preserved for their awesomeness. I agree entirely.

Late to the story, but if we are taking bets, I am even that either the tire was brought in in such poor condition that it can't be inflated and therefore driven elsewhere.
Alternatively, the tire shop screwed up and destroyed the tire so that it can't hold air and don't want to admit it.
