I suspect Peters figured the second mistake was indicative of Rittich overcompensating for his soft goal, and that his head wasn't in a good place.

Went to the Bob Seger concert in Vancouver with my parents instead of watching the game. Think I made the right choice

Well I guess I wasn't good luck this game. I'm now 2-1 at the dome this year

Kane line and Jones did us in, along with some poor Rittich goals, no doubt about it. Though I love how Kane’s tune changed once Prout drew into the game. Kane sure talked pretty tough pre-game, but in the intermission interview suddenly it was all about beating the flames on the scoresheet. That’s not what you were saying before the game tough guy- I guess Prout is still a little taller than you... Oh except for a crosscheck from behind on Monahan. Way to pick your battles Evander. Lol Francis saying he has ‘matured’. Is being scared of someone bigger than you maturing?

Glad that I came here before watching each of the goals, because just watching those I would have thought we had a terrible game. On nearly all of the goals players looked lazy on the back check, making no effort to get back nad help the D, leaving the sharks to do as they please.

Glad to hear it really wasn't that bad.

I have a hard time believing this team will make much noise in the playoffs with this goaltending. The first line isn't going to be able to score at will in the playoffs and we are starting to find out what happens when they don't overcome mediocre/bad goaltending.

Where was the top line 5 on 5? Invisible all night. Hope this isn’t what will happen in the playoffs.

Everything flows from one bad decision: Peters sacrificed skill and ability to put Prout's toughness in. The only thing that toughness got us was a completely inane penalty that flipped the first period from us on the attack to us on the defensive. Then Rittich channeled his inner Smith with two of what has to be the five worst goals in the NHL this year. After that, you could feel that this wasn't going to be our night, and we managed to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

All because the coach wanted to counter a guy who was never going to do anything but mouth off anyway.

While I agree that Kane got in the head of the Flames players and coaching staff I'm not sure Kylington being in the game over Prout would have made much of a difference in the outcome given goaltending sunk the team. The Sharks didn't even have Karlsson in the lineup and still won comfortably.

Sucky game, sucky ending. Didn't like how Rittich was pulled so early. Maybe it had to do with the practices prior to the game where he wasn't engaged as he usually is. Both goals were bad, but he wasn't really given a chance to work out of it. The 2nd goal was a pretty stellar play by Burns to get the puck. 99% of the time the goalie gets it out.

Hamonic is a warrior, but I hope he wasn't rushing himself back only to get injured again. I wouldn't complain if he took a longer break to heal himself. I would hate to see him push himself, only to get injured by the time playoffs come around. That would be a nightmare scenario and I have a sickening feeling that's what's going to happen. Take some time off and heal up for the important games.

Martin Jones put on quite a performance. Ignoring the game before this one, he always seems to play well vs the Flames. I'd be interested to see his numbers when he plays us. The Hertl line was dominant too. Every shift seemed to be in the Flames zone. And like Kane or not, damn he was good all game. All I could think was how good he would look in the Flames top 6.

On to the next one. Need a big win vs Canucks Saturday to hold the Sharks back.

After the game they interviewed Jones. He’s 5-0 in the last 5 games against the Flames

They won comfortably because of an 80 second stretch that never would have happened if Kylington was in the lineup instead of Prout. Maybe a different 80 second stretch happens at a different point in the game, who knows? But for what did happen last night, it all flows from an atrociously awful lineup decision.

There is absolutely no reason, other than necessity due to injury, that Prout should ever be in this line-up. The only thing he does is hurt the team.

Rittich is a super emotional guy. I totally trust that Peters knows what he’s doing and understands BSD’s needs. I imagine he was very mad at himself and the next goal wasn’t on smith regardless. D can’t let the guy into that spot period.

Yeah, if you watched the game, there were turnovers and fortuitous bounces for the Sharks, upon which they capitalized. There were lots of pucks hopping over Flames sticks, whiffing on shots, and pressure on the PP where the Sharks were more lucky than good.

Losses happen, and the Sharks goals for and avoided goals against are not of the predictably repeatable type. I would forecast nothing from this result.

Getting into the heads of the players and coaching staff was all he wanted and needed to do.San Jose is a skill team, and if he was able to get the Flames to take a skill player out in favour of a face-puncher, he’s done his job.

Prout was solid...one of the better Flames. They lost because of goal tending on both sides and finish.

I figured as much. Sharks don't really scare me in the playoffs like others have said. But Jones does. Reminds me of Gibson. They both always look like Vezina winners vs the Flames.
