Yeah certainly didn't feel like a 5-2 game. Felt like one that should have gone to OT.

Horrid scheduling also hurts the team's mojo.

Even if it was a soft call, he still bungled the puck and they put it off the post. He's just all over the place and when we win with him its usually because we outscore his suck.

Difference tonight was Martin Jones and rust. Team hasn’t played much at all recently and they did not look sharp at all. Lot of whiffs, lots of bad bounces and lots of soft plays.
Thought the Flames were good enough to win tonight and their were a lot of grade A+ chances, but Martin Jones was a wall tonight. Hopefully the team comes out with better finish on Saturday.

Smith gave away the puck left and right tonight.
Literally.
Actually it was right then left and he covered it the third time he got it

Goaltending is an issue. No doubt.
Can only imagine if SJ had scored on the Smith giveaway in the third - lucky for him they hit the post.

I am no Smith supporter...probably the most vocal anti-Smith (as far as him being on the team) guy on CP, I've been called out on it many times. I don't go to games when I know Smith is starting.
That penalty though, its not even a weak call...the ref was blocked and assumed, Smith didn't even make contact so not gonna be on him for that one. Calgary was desperate for a goal and he was trying to move the puck. 4-2 or 5-2 doesn't matter, they were likely about to pull him if the puck went up ice.

Weird game to be honest. I liked the bottom 6 forwards tonight. Thought Neal was really good. Bennett was solid and I thought Mangiapane had some good shifts. Top two lines 5 on 5 just didn’t get it done tonight. PP had so many glorious chances but just couldn’t convert.
Andersson I thought really struggled tonight in his own end. Just seems to really struggle lately with any type of cycle plays and just can’t seem to get it out. Hopefully Hamonic is alright. Sure didn’t look good though. What a tough season he’s had. Liked Prouts game too. Steady and reliable. I’d definitely get Kylington back in though.
Not much to say about Rittich. Just not his night tonight. Hopefully he rebounds on Saturday.
Honestly I’m ok with this loss. A little bit of adversity for the team and a message they can’t rely just on skill to win every game. Need a much better effort 5 on 5 and I’m sure we will see that against the Canucks.

Meh, thought the flames started great but that first goal against was terrible, and then Rittich's brutal giveaway.
Ballsy goalie pull only for smith to give up a goal on his first frigin shot. Btw, can someone tell our goalies they suck at playing the puck and to just throw the puck in a corner instead of thinking they are capable of making a play up the ice.
Anyways, didn't like the top line, Bennett giveaway was annoying, and jones played great.
Flames have done well to rise to the occasion for big match up games this year, this was not one of them....
Move on. Do we have to wait 5 or 10 games for the next flames game now?

tough loss...
but really, a loss to Washington on the road in their first game back and losing to SJ considering how they were beat down last game vs Calgary isn't a total surprise...
need a strong effort to come out with a win versus Vancouver though... gotta shake it off as you don't want the team to go into a funk.
i hope that go back to Rittich on Saturday... confidence is a big thing and i think Peters needs to show confidence in Rittich moving forward.
thought Tkachuk was a little too cute with the puck...and johnny to a lesser degree... need to be a little more direct when you are down 2 goals

Couldn’t watch the game tonight. Was this a case of falling behind and then playing our best once we were playing catch up? Or were Sharks fortunate to have the lead?

Backlund was slow and dragged his line down. Other than the typical goalie bull#### it was just one of those games.

I thought the Flames were the better team for most of the game. They played hard and skillful, and were it not for a hot goalie, I believe they would have won this game.
I also believe we would have had a greater chance of winning this game if Rittich had not been pulled.

I think the main issue has been that they just haven't been playing any games.
9 day break then 4 day break in close succession. How can you get into a game rhythm? You can't. They just need to play regular games again and get their timing back. I kind of get why they might have got in their heads waiting a few days to build up a big game that was probably made bigger by the wait (for a guy like Rittich especially and that showed), while the Sharks were playing every odd day leading into it.
Such dumb scheduling. I'd rather start playoffs in March than have the interruption. I'm pretty sure Monahan is still on the beach in Cancun right now between the ears.

Hoping Hamonic is ok.
I don’t mind the loss. Playoff success will require dealing with adversity.
Don’t get too high, don’t get too low.
Effort was there, bounces didn’t go our way. Ice was awful.
No reason the team will not come out strong against VAN.
