Likely partly due to better scouting, but also I think the difference between a starter and a backup at the NHL level is not necessarily their ability to have a 5-10 game hot streak (as backups frequently do this), but their ability to limit the length of any cold streaks to get the next hot streak started. Kipper was amazing in the game following a bad performance. Kostkanen not so much.

The sadness and tears can be felt
#freemcdavid
Every fan if they are fans of hockey should start the #freemcdavid movement to free him of the embarrassment of the Oilers. The world deserves an Oilers free McDavid to watch as we saw Crosby.
Not that I mind this while he's an Oiler.

I think there was a soft deal in place for talbot prior to the koskinen signing, but sine Chia has been relieved, that deal has gone up in smoke.
It's the only thing that really makes sense to me in terms of timing.
The Oilers were ready to anoint Kostin'em because they thought Talbot would be gone within days, but instead the league is now probably squeezing hard on the talbot valuation and the Oilers are between a rock and a hard place.
Guarantee the return for Talbot ends up being extremely low.

What do you do if you are Cam Talbot?
· Your team has just made a long-term commitment to another goalie
· They have very publicly announced that you will no longer be with the team next year
· Your teammates continue to hang you out to dry
· The coach just embarrassed you in front of the home crowd when he pulled you after the players in front of you collapsed.
Honestly—what the hell does Cam Talbot do in this situation?
Listening to the Edmonton talking heads, the consensus is that Talbot has been much better than Koskinen for the past several games—I personally thought he looked very good in the first two periods last night. I think the decision to start him tomorrow is just as simple as that, but with all the additional baggage, this is a terrible idea.

They traded Dubnyk for Matt Hendricks(2g2a44gp).
So what's that for the Flames? Peluso? Get it done!!!

My question is this... is he going to throw his jersey on the ice? Wait a minute, silly me, it's Hitch, he wasn't dumb enough to buy one in the first place.

It's not often an Oilers vs Wild game would ever be classified as must see TV but I'm getting pretty excited to watch things unfold tonight.

To be fair to the guy, it’s disgusting that other players aren’t on the ice with him trying to improve. I feel very sorry for him!
