If I was one of the Flames players, I'd not be pleased to have Hoffman as my new teammate. No way. Distractions? Nada.
To each his own.

Fair enough, I just don't like the idea of a cloud hanging over a guy that had accusations that were unfounded and not based in fact tainting his life/career.
But your definatly entitled to your opinion

I just keep coming back to the asset management aspect and cannot reconcile how the Flames go after the big fish rentals at the deadline. Maybe deal their first for a good rfa, and assets for a middle six multi positional forward. One that can play center.

Hoffman is a decent player who is having a great season. But he doesn't check many boxes on the Flames needs list.

Re: Chucky. He's 21. He is a pwf. His skating has always been a knock but I have seen it improve. He has a pro work ethic and he's above ppg status as a 21 year old pwf. He is also the league's best agitator imo. Marchand was number one but his komarov stunt was a lil over the line. But it's the two of them at the top. He is a very valuable player. He looks physically bigger as well. He could be a very big customer here to round it out. This type of player is valuable. How valuable and how loyal are the pertinent questions afoot.
He will sign for something like Johnny. He will understand the cap dynamics and dynasty potential the flames could have here with their fantastic cap situation.
Which brings me to my current thought about the deadline. Should the flames make a big splash or stay put?
I think a modest acquisition would be good. Brett Richie maybe but would dallas let him go?
Brian Boyle could be a good get.
What would he cost?
how much would kreider really cost?
My buddy says doughty likes yyc. In the off season a trade could be an intriguing proposition but right now I wouldn't want to mess with the chemistry. He says the ire doughty and Chucky have for eachother could lead to magic dynamics for the team too. My buddy knows some of these cats. He and I were on the notion of James neal. We were musing that he could be the biggest acquisition if he turns it on come crunch time. He has been to two cup finals in a row. He could be playing conservatively. That aligns with the stand pat notion.

In the history of hockey?
A pretty incomplete list I would think.
I’m also pretty sure that Bobby Orr was never a one man line LOL.
BTW, Mario Lemieux played with a number of great players like Jagr, Francis and Stevens.

I must have misread the 2nd line RW scoring stats for the Flames this season.

Hoffman is a spitting image of Cammy, can play both effectively. Almost better on off-wing.

He plays LW in Fla and did the same in Ottawa. Playing off wing on a regular basis would, I think be pretty new to him. He doesn't play well defensively so he's like Cammy in that regard. I wasn't a big Cammy fan so that doesn't really sell me on him playing offwing on a line with big defensive responsibilities.

There needs to be some form of punishment if you don’t know Bobby Orr was a defenseman.

I think his point was that Orr carried the whole 5 man unit by himself, regardless of whether he was a F or a D.

He was still a one man line as a defenseman.

Crosby isn't a one man show the way Malkin is even though Crosby is a better player.
I don't think a few of you really understood what my point was, and that list was the names that came to mind. Some guys really thrive on teamwork, and there's been a handful of guys who were just so talented they didn't need to.
I thought the fact that I omitted Gretzky should have made that clear.
