Surprised he was able to get a word in with all the contracts teams are surely throwing his way

Man. Talk about kicking a team when they're down.

Getbak will know for sure, but I'm pretty sure he stays on LTIR for cap purposes while on conditioning.
Also, Alex Chiasson is Edmonton's Joe Colborne. He's on a league minimum deal right now, so massive value to Edmonton. He's going to get a raise, guaranteed, if he stays with Edmonton. For a guy who adds no value himself but instead leeches off McDavid. Nothing but a cap drain.

I'm sure someone will take him with a draft pick. They're pretty much useless to the Oilers.
Hahahaha!!

Why are they bothering with bringing Sekera back? With 2 months left in a season that is shot, wouldn't it be better to let him recover to 100% for next year? Worst case for the Oilers, they play a bit better with him, still miss the playoffs, risk injuring him again, and get a worse draft pick because they only half tank?
I don't get it.

If he's healthy, that would be blatant cap circumvention. And god would I love to see the Oilers end up forfeiting their first round pick for *that* reason!

I'm not sure he ever totally recovered from the prior injury as he struggled last season when he got back in the lineup. I can't imagine he's going to be a big help to them down the stretch.

They don't have a choice, if he's cleared he's cleared.

Ah, so they get forced into it if he has healed. Got it, thanks.

why wouldn't he want to stay, the Oilers overpay everyone. I would stay too if it meant a 25% or so premium.

He definitely wants to stay. I think it's funny that he was even asked, as if teams are lining up to fight the Oilers for him

McDavid/Draisaitl/Chaisson
Combined 21.6M cap hit
77 G 87 A 174 PT
Gaudreau/ Monahan/Lindholm
Combined 18M cap hit
79 G 112 A 191 PT
When you factor in Chaisson is at league minimum...someone will have to tell me how Draisaitl is a "pretty damn good" contract.
