I try to stay neutral on this stuff, but one point of advice from a casual observer - The "Okay, I don't want to hear a THING about Smith from the anti Smith crowd and will attack it as soon as I see it!" crowd is becoming as complicit in the toxicity of this site as those calling out Smith's poor play.

I think mgmt wants to see if he's capable of putting up a quality performance against a good opponent ahead of the deadline given the flames position in the standings. Have to weigh options if he doesn't show improvement.
It's a good call. Also forces team to work harder coming back from break given how they leaned on Rittich a bit going into it.
