My boxing day gift to myself
Flames games should be even more enjoyable in HD now
46" LCD...Sony XBR2
Top of the line LCD screen money can buy these days. Other than the 52" version of the same. that being said, 4 G's was enough for me....6.5 G's I could not handle right now hah
Anyone want to come over and watch some hockey!!?
Now to get this sucker mounted on the wall above my fireplace mantle

Nice. I'd be more inclined to come over if you were in, say, Kingston, Jamaica.

That's slick. I like the glass frame around it.
Definitely have to get that hanged; I see so many people run out and buy these things because they are the new cool got to have thing. But in the end they end up sitting them on a tv stand just like they would any other TV. IMO if they are going to do that, its taking up the same amount of space so they should have just bought a normal tv in the same size.

I hear ya. I had to sit it on my old stand temporarily....and I think it looks like crap there! Wall mounts are not cheap though...at least not the quality ones.

Congrats and I guessed it was a widescreen HDTV before I opened the thread. My 30" is beginning to look to kind of small but it will have to do for now.

That's the exact same set my wife bought me for X-mas!! What a surprise. It's absolutely awesome. Bought myself an HD-DVD drive on Boxing Day... wow.
I think I have the best wife. Last November she camped out on launch day for 12 hours and bought me an XBOX360 (with 4 games) which she surprised me with on my birthday. This year she camped out with me for the Wii launch as well.

Wow. That is one heck of a wife you have! Sher buys you some pretty expensive Christmas gifts!! I think even more than that though...her camping out to get you the 360 is true love haha
Now if I could just get the damn settings right on this TV I would be in business. The factory settings look like garbage!!

Nice! I didn't have that much so I picked up a 42" LG LCD for $1499... but it has backlight bleeding problems so I'm going to return it. I don't know if I'll be able to exchange it though, I think they're sold out now.

Very nice. I picked up a 42" Sony HD Plasma on boxing day aswell.
This one is in my bedroom, it's a little oversized for the room, but I don't care. It's like a movie theatre. I think I am going to wait on the HD box for a while. I'll just pick up the digital cable box for the $98 instead. I still can play 360 in HD.

Check out avsforum.com for discussions about this tv. There's a few message board postings with settings for this tv. I used them as a starting point, then adjusted from there to suit my preferences. You can also check out the cnet review for the 40" version of this tv - they give the settings they used to review it.

Thanks for the tip. I actually have been reading the 19 page thread on that forum for the settings...however, I can't seem to adjust some of the settings which are mentioned by the guy who had his TV calibrated professionally.
I know the settings out of the box were terrible...and I have it fairly decent right now, but I am still not happy with it. I tried the CNET settings already, and thought they sucked. Of course, with the majority of channels in SD...the picture is only going to get so good. In a word...SD blows.
