CCM has stepped up and has paid Decker $25k. Draisaitl got $25k for "winning" the event with a time of 1:09 even though Decker had a faster time of 1:06

I know she wasn't an "official" participant as she was demonstrating the event before the players did the event, but she beat the whole side so I think she deserves the money.
$25k means a lot more to Decker than it does to Draisaitl. I'm glad CCM decided to recognize her skills.

I don't understand why she didn't get to participate like that other American girl. Was it because the NHL knew there is no way she can beat McDavid in a speed contest and Brianna could very well beat all the NHL players?

Coyne took the place of Nathan MacKinnon which is why she was in the event proper. There were no withdrawals from the passing event which is why she didn't get in as an official participant.

It's great that CCM stepped up and gave her the money, but it never should have gotten to that point in the first place. The NHL should have paid her before this even became a thing. Putting rainbow tape on your hockey sticks a few times a year and changing your logo on Twitter doesn't actually matter if you don't do the right thing to support diversity in your game when the opportunity comes up.

Ugh. It feels like Gaudreau is always saddled with some pity-entry into the ASG on his line. First it was Bo Horvat, then Brock Boeser. Now he gets antiquated Joe Pavelski. Oh, goodie.
... I guess the plan is not to embarrass anyone.

Maybe Draisaitl already has a charity earmarked for his award money. I know a lot of players do that, but if not, if he was half a man, he would have given her his prize money.

Is this legitimately true, or is it the NHL saving face?

I haven't been around for the all star game discussions thus far so it has probably already been discussed but these jerseys are horrible. I liked the flashy and colourful jerseys from last year.
