Not sure how I've never seen this before today, but it's freaking golden.

a few more Bruin's takes on Chiarelli's hiring that also got negative scores from Oiler Redditors:
Of course, Oiler fans, having been through this for 9 years up to 2015, wouldn't have any of that negativity

This is why...even now at its darkest moment you never ever pity the Oilers fans...ever. They had lucked out with McDavid, they hired a GM thought to be a genius by some despite massive warnings from his past team. For a brief moment, even a year later when the Oilers got the softest schedule in the league and made it to the 2nd round, Oilers fans tought they had won at hockey, defied the hockey gods and overnight became the cockiest fans in all of hockey despite not winning a single thing. This time is was supposed to be different but...
E=NG is just too strong. Welcome back to 24th overall by the all star game, with their yearly destination in the bottom 5 of the league imminent, time to get the draft party preparations started.

Made me smile today listening to the radio and they mentioned Gretzky was the head amateur scout for the Bruins, who with 3 picks in a row some how managed to not land Barzal, Chabot, or any of the great player picked shortly after Boston picked. That guy is responsible for replenishing the Oiler pipeline.

We're just about at that time of the year again where the Oilers hopes of making the playoffs are practically extinguished and the sole focus of his teammates is to feed him the puck so he can win the scoring race.
It's all about the name on the back and the individual awards.

Am I misremembering or did one of the hacks up north say something derisory along the lines of 'you don't win with the lady Byng' when Johnny won it? It'd be nice if he could still be in the running for the hart at seasons end.

I was hoping that he would have actually lit the sweater on fire. Why the lighter if he’s not going to burn it?

Hope springs eternal I guess. Seeing the Oilers sweater in the ground, I was kinda hoping for something more then a scene from love actually. Very anti-climactic.

Because he's an Oiler fan. I have no doubt the scene after the video would have been him breaking down and crying "I can't quit you".

I wonder if The all star game affects payers views of their own team. You are in a bubble during the NHL season with your own team. Then you a week off and hang out with guys who are having fun playing hockey.

"How's your team doing Erik"?
"Pretty good - slow start but we got better and the POs aren't in doubt. How about you, Elias?"
"Great, I'm a rookie everyone is talking about on a team that's fighting for a spot when we were supposed to be finishing last".
"Connor what about you? Hey, where did he go?"
