I find text messaging infuriating. I pay for the phone so that I can TALK to people. . . not write them. Plus, it takes so freaking long to type anything out on my stupid phone. Unless I can answer a text message with either "Y" or "N", I probably won't answer it.

The cost of iPod accessories will send me into a rant of biblical proportions.

People who are over 21 that still live with their parents. When these people tell me to stop complaining about bills and/or money I have an urge to get violent.

Usually I let people ahead of my if they only have a couple of things and I have quite a bit more. Finally, this guy blurts, "Hey, man, I only have one thing, let me in front, eh?" I relent, and let the guy get in front of me. When the guy gets to the cashier, he hands her the lemon and tells her he needs an pack of Export A unfiltered. The cashier had to leave her post and wait in line at customer service to get his smokes! The guy turned to me with a smirk, daring me to say something. Well, say something I did, and quite noisily. I thought it bad form on his part.
Sorry, that was me. I really just wanted the lemon, but then I realized that I really can't enjoy eating the lemon without my smokes.

I too get annoyed, however when Oilersbaby used it she was using it in plural form, such as "all the the california safeways" as opposed to "all the california safeway" which doesn't make any sense.

people who call safeway "safeways" are saying "safeway's" as in possessive, as in the store belongs to someone/thing named safeway.

make sense?
So, how come nobody ever says, "Let's go to Superstore's for some bread." Or, "Let's amble down to Co-op's for some bagels." Or, "Let's go down to Sobey's.........."

Meh, never mind.

I agree with you, even though I am 22 and I still live at home. The only difference is, I go to school full-time, and I don't b***h and whine about money. The way I see it, once you're out of school, and especially if the first digit in your age is NOT a 1, get out and join the real world.

Some loser once sratched and gouged my car doing this... even left the shopping cart behind as evidence. Hey, and why are people so lazy in this city that they can't put their shopping carts away when they are done... at least get them out of the friggin' way so they are not blocking a stall.
I tend to park at the far ends of parking lots to avoid such crap. That and it makes for great exercise walking back and forth from the store.

Yeah, I know. I was being polite. If I'm behind someone with lots of grocs and I have a carton of milk and a loaf of bread, I appreciate it if they let me ahead. I just don't expect them to..........I'd certainly never ask to be let ahead.

I park the same way. But it didn't save me from having my car keyed recently by some asshat while I went into the store for a grand total of 15 minutes...

New grievance: Asshats that vandalize cars for no apparent reason.

I wouldn't have let an able bodied person ahead of me in the express line. In the regular line when I have 50 things, sure.

^^^On a related noted. I was at Sobeys a few days ago and the woman in front of me had a pretty full cart. I was buying about 10 items and she offered to allow me to go ahead. I told her not to worry about it.

She explained that she had 4 kids at home and a husband that ticks her off, and grocery shopping was her only time out of the house - so the longer she could stay in the store, the better.

Poor lady.

because whining about it is always helpful. You complain about being unfairly treated yet you keep the stereotype alive by beating it to death, Jordon. Let it go already.

Also, people that consider discussion on an internet message board as whining.

I'm almost tempted to put it on my resume. Just to see the reaction, if I get an interview. Of course it'd just be for kicks.

Pretty much every retail worker. This labour shortage has caused retail owners to hire anyone that meets the lofty qualifications of a)having a face and b)capable of wearing a name tag/uniform. I don't know how some of these people function in everyday life without walking off a bridge or wandering head on into traffic. Asking these people for help or basic product knowledge you get a response as if you've been rude to them and you've interrupted their sole existence of being a waste of space.

I was at a clothing store looking for a jacket a couple of weeks ago. This exceptional person was helping me. I try on a brown jacket that was a size large, which was too big for me. I say to her "it's too big, do you have this in a medium?" She comes back about a minute later, holding a blue and a black jacket. "I found these two in a large." Well that's great because the first large didn't fit, these are bound to fit. Idiot.

I bought a tv on boxing day, and the guy helping me was so contradicting it was almost hilarious. I had narrowed it down to getting an 32" LG LCD or a 42" Sony plasma. He would tell me that plasma is no good 42" and under, so to go with LCD. Then five minutes later he told me plasma is always a better picture than LCD so to get the plasma. Then in comparing the colours between the two tv's he would say well the LCD has brighter colours and the plasma has more brilliant colours. Okay that is the same thing, but whatever. I go with the Sony, and it comes with a 5 year warranty. Because everyone is a moron it takes four different people to put through the transaction each asking me about extenting the warranty. But of course 5 year is the longest they extent it anyways, I decline any additional warranty. And to top if off they give me the wrong remote. Gawd.

As for this atm/cash debate I swear it is faster for some of these cashiers to put through a debit transaction than using their grade 3 math and counting your change.

One of my grievances: When people assume you're stupid b/c you're a cashier I'm a stay at home mom during the day b/c I feel it is more important to be at home raising my kids than to be a part time mother and having someone else do the child raising for me. Obviously this makes my husband the bread winner and so to get out and do something else and to make a little money to help pay off our student loans, I work at Safeway, part time as a cashier.

Of course due to the labour shortage, companies are going to be hiring people who would otherwise have not been able to get a job at that specific place but that's due to the state of our economy and so there are going to be cashiers and the like who are a bit slow. At Safeway you have to take 2 tests, one of which is a produce code test and the other is a POS test. When I took my test I got 100% on both .. it took a good memory and common sense. Now b/c of the labour shortage, I have heard of some Safeway's hiring people who don't even pass the test b/c they need the staff so badly. For the most part, the people I work with are very intelligent, good people who are in the same situation as I am in or who are students at University. I can't say that I work with one person who isn't smart. In fact, the majority of the cashier's I work with have been working at Safeway for many years, a couple have been there over 30 years.

If cashiers completely became a thing of the past and everything was done at self serve tills then everyone would just bitch and whine and complain about that .. apparently there isn't any winning here. People in this part of the world are way too spoiled and will complain about the stupidest of things .. I can think of worse things to complain about other than complaining about a cashier who can't remember a stupid code for a parsnip or something else trivial. Sorry if a whole 5 seconds of your day is wasted.

Nicole my grievance was not directed at you or all cashiers. In fact I don't remeber a good cashier as everything goes smoothly and I'm on my way. I tend to remeber bad cashiers that ruin my shopping experience and only make my stay in a mall longer. Most of the cashier are good and things go smoothly, but the minority that are terrible paint a bad picture for the rest.

Another grievance I have is one exclusive to message boards. When you ask a question or for advice and the first repy is someone that says, "Google it." Thanks genius I never thought to use the most popular search engine on the internet or even do a search on the internet for that matter. I would like to assume that most people who ask a question have already "googled it" and they require more help.
