imagine taking advantage of the draft system, getting 3 1st overalls in a row, lucking out to win another lottery and get the biggest talent since Crosby, plus two more top 5 picks ... only to end up in this hell with no depth, no prospect pool and no cap space. It's actually incredible - could you screw it up more if you did it on purpose? Hard to believe.

Books need to be written about such a unique decade of such incompetence, nepotism and ultimate failure.

That Brandon Manning trade was one of my favorite moves so far. Of all players in the league, you trade for the player that ****ed up your star player and forced him to injury for the first time in his career? And to top that off, you had to get a note from Connor to make sure that his feelings weren't hurt anymore and that they could go through with the trade.

Not to mention all the picks they made at the beginning of the second round. Those are still high picks - in a 31 team league like we are now, those would be 1st rounders.

The comments from McDoofus over the last couple of days can't be good for team morale, if there even was any before that. So not only are they losing most nights (and losing badly), and the laughing stock of the entire sports world...but now there's clearly some strife in the locker room as well. Man, what a toxic situation that must be up there right now.

You could literally do case studies for a business journal in how to not run a sports franchise.

The franchise epitomizes the term groupthink.

The rest of the league igored the league as middling losers until
they completely tanked to earn high picks.

This enabled the fans to ramp up the arrogance of a return to glory to levels previously never witnessed.

We are not alone in enjoying their suck, their... No Goodness.

A Detroit win and Arizona win tonight, would sink Edmonton's playoff chances into the single digits.

I don't know fellas, we should feel some fear and awe. Once in a while I post on that other board.

There was a thread on brighter futures for Canadian teams. And an Oiler fan felt extremely positive of a core of Drai, RNH, McDavid and Klefbom.

You know a core of a overpaid winger, a good but soft center, and admittedly super star center and a number 2 defense man. Over the Flames core.

I mean game over man. Our core that includes Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Gio, Brodie, Hamonic, Tkachuk, Hanifin just really pales in comparison, and we're an illusion, a con, a dupe.

Oiler fans deserve what they get man.

I know there's been a lot of talk about how the Oilers have overtaken the Browns as the most inept franchise in North America, but I think we need to look at whether the Oilers are the worst professional franchise in the entire world.

Hitch already put Connor and Leon in a different tier as the rest when he gave them a day off from practice while every one else had to skate.
And people wonder why tier 2 players don't protect their tier 1 players when they get roughed up by Hamonic or Hathaway. I can't see that room being very tight.

I mean, there's probably a Colombian professional soccer team that had a player assassinated after a bad game or something so the Oilers might still be a half a notch above worst in the entire world.

They have worst in North America down on lock, though. At least the Browns made improvements this past season and began firing management and coaches that weren't delivering.
