I suppose there might be a better way to improve the center depth (get a center), but I think centers may be more expensive than wingers. For example, I'm imagining that Kevin Hayes would cost more than Mats Zuccarello.

You just suggested improving their center depth by listing off players that are already here. There's nothing stopping Peters from mixing up lines if need be, but I think you're way out to lunch with your proposed change to the top line.

I am ok with that. I just want to see beast mode Kronwall for us down the stretch. Read a recent article on him and he said he feels the best he has in years. He also said if Kenny asked him to move he would consider it.

I'll actually be excited by the prospect of Kronwall coming to the flames. He is averaging almost 20 minutes per game at that age and actually sporting a +3 playing for the wings.
He brings a gritty brand of hockey which always is a boon come playoffs. His playoff pedigree will also be welcome for a potential deep run.

We can recoup draft picks in the offseason when we trade Stone and Frolik to make cap room to re-sign the others.
This is a strong team and may only be a piece or two away from having a complete roster that can win it all.
Trading some picks to push us over the top is not something I would be disappointed about.

Too bad Iggy is retired, he'd be perfect.
Henrik Lundqvist would be perfect but the Rangers won't trade him and he's too expensive anyways.
Gio is a good one but he's already on the team.
Jason Pominville, Deryk Engelland, Ilya Kovalchuk (if the kings retained a lot), Spezza would all be good picks.
Andy Greene would be great as well if Jersey would retain.

What the hell is an OGWAC?

Andy Greene has another year left and has fallen off a cliff this season. At $5 million... no thanks.
Just for fun, players who meet depth OGWAC criteria and who are on expiring contracts:
- Jason Spezza
- Jason Pominville
- Marc Methot
- Carl Gunnarsson
- Patrick Maroon
- Roman Polak
- Thomas Vanek
- Brian Gibbons
- Drew Stafford
- Jay Bouwmeester
Those are all guys who could probably tread water at 7-9 minutes in a fill-in role, at least. Guys like Spezza/Pominville/Methot/Vanek/Maroon could probably do a bit more. They'd all probably come cheap. There's variable desirability and quality there, but those are the guys who meet the criteria of depth forwards/defenesemen and who are up after the year, without Cups.
Of course, a player's trophy cabinet should not really play a factor -- this is just an exercise on my part.

I agree. I really don't think we need to add any big guns, but adding a grumpy greybeard with tonnes of playoff experience would be amazing. Kronwall can still play and would add an element that we could use.
The guy is 37, but he has aged really well. Honestly, he is number one on my wish list.

For those interested, a NYR fan said a 3rd and Rychel would probably be enough for Zuccarello. Does that seem reasonable?
He also said it would be much more for Hayes.

Sorry for stating the obvious, at least in my opinion, however I think the Flames need to concentrate on finding another goaltender before the trade deadline.
I really like Rittich and the way the Flames have played in front of him, but Smith is not reliable and come playoffs, the team needs a goaltender who can be reliable and also is capable of stealing a game or 2 in a 7 game series.
I think Tre should be careful with picks and some of the upper echelon prospects, but it seems like the goaltending piece is the biggest concern especially come playoff games.

Doesn’t this seem like the year to add some depth and that’s it? Team is playing well. You can’t mess with chemistry. Just add some insurance and weight for playoffs. There is zero chance a major move is happening.

What goalies are realistically available for rental (expiring and on teams that are out of it and better than Smith)?

Also think what could've been had Iggy stayed in hockey "limbo" in another league rather than retired last summer.
It would be the perfect season to take him as a 12th/13th forward at the deadline for a run.
