He probably won't, but I wouldn't blame McDavid if he requested a trade. He's wasting what will be some of his highest productive seasons for nothing. And there's no light at the end of the tunnel. That organization is a disaster.

If it's the same or worse next year I think it may actually be the smartest thing for him and the team.

They're pretty comparable yeah. Carolina's might be stronger on the defensive side of the puck.
The thing with the Canes is they don't have the talent up front to match it.
