Backlund being at a +25 with the minutes and opponents he plays is actually incredible.
I had no idea his +/- was that high. And almost all of it under the radar. Unreal.

The boys played their 3rd game in 4 nights. The Oilers gave all they could give. The Oilers a bad hockey team from top to bottom.

Driving up for the game tonight. For the love of god I hope they play well for once.
I’m like 0-5 at Rogers. Sorry guys.
Thanks Weise

Giordano now leads all D in points. Tied with Burns but has played less games and has more goals.

I mean, seriously? You are surprised that scientists conducting crucial work that potentially affects the well-being of every human has access to better technology than the NH-freaking-L?
What a night.

Also, he’s really good at playing defence.
To be honest at this point he is currently a run away for the Norris, and I don’t think that is biased. The only thing working against him is that he doesn’t play in a huge market but there’s no question that he’s been the best defencemen in the NHL this year.

I was there tonight. It was a really pro-Flames crowd. I'd say a good 1/3 of people were cheering the Flames and sporting Flames gear. We were high-fiving in the washroom after the game. I saw a brawl break out in the washroom... between two Oilers fans lol.
There were some vocal Go Flames Go chants all night long (even on After Hours). There was even a group sporting Tkachuk wigs and jerseys. It was a wonderful night, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

My favourite is the out right refusal to refer to Treliving as a good gm, only saying he’s ‘average’. Dude built a top of the line team with one top five pick (and that pick isn’t even a big contributor). Treliving definitely ain’t perfect but when I look at the landscape of gms it’s pretty clear that he is in upper tier company. I’ve roasted him and have been wrong many times. Trading for Hamilton was a god damn stroke of genius, but not more than trading that same player away for Lindholm and Hanifin. The typical GM in the NHL wishes they had two landslide deals like that. Weakness is still signing middling veterans to too big of deals but I can live with it. Also our prospect development has just skyrocketed since he took the reigns. Edmonton should be jealous of our GM. Probably the biggest difference in the clubs is the management, because lord knows that the oilers have all the luck, at least draft wise.

I’ve been to several BOAs in Edmonton over the past decade and always had a good time. My son had a big Minor Hockey Week semi final tonight which kept me away. Would have been a great game to go to.

And despite all my praise for Treliving in my last post, I still gotta say... my favourite GM in the league is Chiarelli. He is truly a mastermind of ####ing up. He is courageous in every move he makes, actively ####ing the oilers up. I love Chiarelli and he is for sure the guy the oilers should keep basically forever.

I think the Oilers should give Chia a 6x6 contract. He just needs more time.
