Props to Hitch on how much he has slimmed down though, for real.
Can't be easy to keep it off coaching this team either.
My boss played in the WHL when Hitch was the coach in Kamloops. He told me these stories about how Hitch in one arena, where you had to cross the ice to get to the dressing room, the organist would play the A&W root beer theme as it took a couple minutes to make the traverse. Savage. One time he fell down, and couldn’t get up. Soaking wet. Player had to come back and pick him up. When he reached the other side, they locked the gate and he was stuck. Organist was playing the theme the entire 5 minute saga.
I think if you did that today, you’d be jailed for harassment.

Just think about the last couple years of following this team and then let it sink in......we are currently FIVE points up on THIRD place in the entire league.
It's just us and Tampa now.

He emphasized the team mindset and that was great. I also appreciated how he went out of his way to mention Backlund's accomplishment and what he appreciates about Backlund in general. I get the feeling he genuinely cares about the players and I think that makes him a better coach.

I can't say too much about this, i have strong intel (my wife works with a oiler /ex-oiler spouse). Oiler players HATED the coaching change and hate Hitchcock. He is a real hardass obviously/apparently.
